Release: Fourth single from Demi's fourth album
Demi, in May 2014.
Songwriters: Demi Lovato - Carl Falk (also producer), Savan Kotecha, Rami Yacoub (also producer), Cher Lloyd
Fun Facts: This collaboration with Cher Lloyd happened after Cher sang on the American version of X-Factor with demi as a judge. Soon after, Demi called Cher and asked if she'd like to be a feature on the track, which was no brainer since Cher said she was huge fan of the song "Skyscraper" and Demi's music. Demi's family were all big fans of Cher and begged Demi to do a duet with her. The music video takes place during the Los Angeles Gay Pride Parade in 2014. There were many cameo appearances in the video. Demi said the 'breakup song' had a different meaning that day when you had people protesting the Pride Festival saying things like being gay is a sin, and how it was enjoyable to literally sing "we really don't care what you think".
Hazey's Focus: One of my favorites instantly when I first heard this album after being so excited that Cher was on this track because "Want U Back" had been one of my favorite songs ever in recent times. Boy did it deliver on all levels as the mega bop I hoped it would be. It was also one of the highlights for me during Demi's concert because everyone in the building really got into it.
Oh wow
@Mina (3), wait till
@Posh Spears reads this comment (if he's even still paying attention to the rate ddd):
"Minus 3 points for Cher Lloyd."
Where as
@unnameable (9) didn't let Cher wreck the party for them:
"surprisingly improved and not wrecked by the feature."
In a complete opposite take,
@Martyn (8) needs Cher's involvement to get the full experience:
"I'd take off 3 points for the Demi only version. Cher Lloyd is very good on it."
@Sally_Harper (8) got swept in the moment and might look back on this as an over-score:
"Firstly, what a great video! And bonus Cher Lloyd too! Oh, fuck it, I wouldn’t choose to listen to it but the video’s made me so happy I’ll give it a high score anyway."
It's all about what this pair could together for
@Sprockrooster (10):
"This is a duet match made in heaven. AND I STAN THE MUSIC VIDEO."
Though I do love "Kingdom Come" (unpopular opinion) I like
@iheartpoptarts's (10) idea better than getting Iggy:
"Honestly, whenever a teen pop act needs a rap feature they should just get Cher Lloyd."
Surprisingly "Want U Back" wasn't enough for
@WhenTheSunGoesDown (10) as a loud and proud Demi-shader, he saw the light here of all places:
"This song finally got me to look into Cher Lloyd’s discography and I’m forever grateful. Great for workout playlists."
