RIP Ossi Runne (1927-2020) who conducted all the Finnish entries between 1966 and 1989.

 

RIP Kico Slabinac (1944-2020), who represented Yugoslavia in 1971, making a rather bold fashion statement.

My fave almost never wins Eurovision but I usually at least like the winning songs. But three consecutive years were actively wrong. Here's the winners in my head canon-

1999

2000

2001

 

If anyone remembers the Estonian band Vanilla Ninja representing Switzerland in 2005 they are now back together after 12 years and releasing a new album next year.

 

I literally hate all 3 of these songs... :)

 

2001 is the worst winner for the last mmmh 40 years or so.

 

I didn't begin watching Eurovision until 2009, but the 2001 results still somehow haunt me.
