  1. RIP Ossi Runne (1927-2020) who conducted all the Finnish entries between 1966 and 1989.

  2. RIP Kico Slabinac (1944-2020), who represented Yugoslavia in 1971, making a rather bold fashion statement.

  4. My fave almost never wins Eurovision but I usually at least like the winning songs. But three consecutive years were actively wrong. Here's the winners in my head canon-

    1999


    2000

    (this version not the nervous real version)

    2001
     
  5. If anyone remembers the Estonian band Vanilla Ninja representing Switzerland in 2005 they are now back together after 12 years and releasing a new album next year.

  8. I didn't begin watching Eurovision until 2009, but the 2001 results still somehow haunt me.

  16. The amount of Eurovision parties I‘ve watched on youtube and always wanted to go. Sigh.
