Random Melodifestivalen Thoughts

Two weeks ago, I had the worst day in my entire career, which has had huge consequences and eventually turned into the worst two weeks of my entire career. And it's not even over.

First I actually felt comforted by your post, so thank you for letting my anxiety go away for a few moments. Then I remembered that I have a similar kind of job in that my mistakes will be online forever.

Me googling and finding what you're referring to:

(Seriously - shitty situations sometimes happen to good people. I'm sure it'll work out in the end.)

Me finding out that you just found out:

But yeah thanks and I'll ride out the storm. Det gör ont en stund på natten men inget på dan.

Anyway, in other random Melodifestivalen thoughts, I recently found out that this song is about getting high on ecstasy. Is that reason enough to ignore all the warnings and finally try it? Can I live through life without really knowing what one of my top 3 favourite Melodifestivalen entries is actually about?

Having said that, I did try some samba sambero and it wasn't my thing at all.

Genuinely love all those entries (except Petra Nielsen, she can choke) but nothing comes close to the schlagerfiasko that was "Så nära". The tatty, brown feather boa! The chaise longue just plonked in the middle of the stage! The terrifying come-hither stare and general atmosphere of sheer desperation! Somehow a complete disaster and high art all rolled into one.

”Vad du än trodde så trodde du fel” is a such a bop and I still use that phrase on a weekly basis because of the song. Huge impact on my life. I still laugh when I think about how Arja’s record company executive* excused the flopping with how they should’ve given that song to Jessica Folcker instead of ”Om natten” because then ”Vad du än trodde så trodde du fel” would’ve won. As if that would've solved anything.

I’d add this to the ”women of a certain age bringing bops” list:

*Yes, it’s Bert
