RHONY: Legacy

Let's take a sip of the piping hot tea that Bethenny is the least essential cast member at this point - even less than Tinsley.

I'm absolutely a Bethenny apologist, but the show wouldn't feel that different without her. She already has the most solo scenes out of all of them simply because she doesn't really have that many genuine relationships with the rest of the cast. I love her, but I don't think I'd necessarily miss her. Especially not if Jill came back.

I think that Bethenny became even more grating than usual last season because her feud with Carole just became a bit too much to still be fun near the end. I'm kind of sick of her smug ass always thinking she's better than all the other women and then turning on the waterworks when she doesn't get her way. It's becoming a bit one-note.

The sad thing is, I think it would damage the ratings of the show. I do think she is a draw. In terms of quality, however, the show absolutely doesn't need her. Season 4 already gave us proof of that. Season 5 was a bit of a snoozefest, comparatively, but season 6 brought us plenty of iconic moments.

I would love Alex to come back, she was a cringeworthy mess in the first season, but she really came around, she was definitely smart and sensitive and ironically enough the more ''sane'' of the girls, besides her complete inability to confront people in a fight, plus Simon was iconic.

It's quite interesting that Alex said that she still keeps in touch with the other housewives (she said she actually has a great relationship with Jill), besides Bethenny who is the one whom she has the least interactions.

Jill was great, because she was actually one of the few people that actually knew how to confront Ramona and viceversa.

I'll go to bat for Bethenny in almost every circumstance because I think she's an ultimately well-meaning if deeply troubled person, but even I found the end of last season exhausting. The reunion was just....difficult to watch.

I adore Alex, but I don't think she'd ever come back.

I think the show would suffer without Bethenny. Ramona would probably be shone in a villain light without someone as equally crazy and aggressive. Lu and Sonja are both too flighty to really challenge Ramona, and Dorinda wouldn't cut it as her foe. The tension between Ramona and B is, in my opinion, crucial to the show. Perhaps that's why Heather was such a great casting choice because in B's absence, there was still someone else who could be the biggest personality in the room alongside Ramona.

I would love an Alex return.

How do ya'll rate the seasons of NYC? I've finished 4 and it's not as good as I remember, just started 5 and forget how likeable Aviva was before she turned on Queen Sonja Tremont-Morgan. I think for me it goes..

1st - Season 10
2nd - Season 3
3rd - Season 9
4th - Season 8
5th - Season 7
6th - Season 6
7th - Season 4
8th - Season 5

Really though, it's very close. 4th to 7th is interchangeable depending on my memory.

Maybe should rewatch season 4, but from what I remember it's my second favorite season.

It's also the season that made me a housewives stan. Prior to watching it, I really didn't get housewives and actually completely disliked it.

And YES about Aviva. She was incredible at first #divaviva, but then she completely lost me.

As of now, my ranking is:
1st - Season 10
2nd - Season 4
3rd - Season 3
4th - Season 9
5th - Season 8
6th - Season 2
7th - Season 7
8th - Season 6
9th - Season 1
10th - Season 5

I agree with most of your ranking but I would go with:
10
3
9
4
8
7
6
5
2
1

Season 10 is the best series of Housewives ever. 11 will disappoint as a result, of course. The boat. Oh my God the boat. Everyone screaming while Tinsley pretends everything is fine. Oh, the scene with Luann declaring the future to be bright and the cut to thunder and lightning and a police car's interior. The editing! Amazing stuff.

Let's continue with our obituaries:

Cindy Barshop: Out of all of the housewives in New York history, Cindy gets the worst rap. Generally considered by the fanbase to be the "worst" housewife of all 10 seasons, I thought she was decently likeable. She brought absolutely nothing to the reunion, however, and needed Andy's help to even get in a word in - when bringing it during reunions is half of the job. She seemed to be an attempt by Bravo to replace Bethenny with another successful, outspoken #RelatableGirl. She might've settled in after another season, but I don't think she was a match for the likes of Jill or Ramona. Jules was a much better "one season" cast member than Cindy, in my opinion. Oh, she was also the queen of vajazzling. Remember that??
Iconic moments: Sonja telling her there is a "pecking order," her utter contempt for all of her castmates.
