Rihanna - 9th Album

Love On The Brain would be a moment if she decides to throw us a curve ball.
I think this could (and should) be a given. It’s her second most popular song on Spotify and is almost at 1 billion streams (which would be the third ANTI track to hit that milestone).

Umbrella is absolutely going to be there. Same with We Found Love. After that, I really don’t know. I see Diamonds making the cut and maybe Only Girl (with a brief Don’t Stop The Music/Where Have You Been/SOS style moment too). I think we will also get Work and/or Rude Boy or What’s My Name with a sprinkle of Pon De Replay.

I also see FourFiveSeconds making the cut and honestly I wouldn’t be mad. It pops off live! I love Needed Me but it’s never really popped up live for me so I’m unsure on this one. I think the above list would be missing something in this vein though so I could see anything from an edited version of BBHMM, Pour It Up or a Hard intro.

Whew the fact that this still would be omitting heaps of her hits. Her power!

Wait. Her two albums?
She implied in a late 2019 (...) Vogue interview that she's been working on two albums, with one of them being reggae-inspired:

On new music: She’s already in the “discovery stage” for her 10th album, in fact. “We always went into the music this time around saying that we were going to do two different pieces of art,” she tells me. “One was gonna be inspired by the music that I grew up listening to. And one was gonna be the evolution of where I’m going next with music...

On its reggae-influence: “I like to look at it as a reggae-inspired or reggae-infused album. It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae. But you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks … Reggae always feels right to me….It doesn’t matter how far or long removed I am from that culture, or my environment that I grew up in; it never leaves…Even though I’ve explored other genres of music, it was time to go back to something that I haven’t really homed in on completely for a body of work.”

On whether she would ever stop making music: “Oh, nooo, music is, like, speaking in code to the world, where they get it. It’s the weird language that connects me to them. Me the designer, me the woman who creates makeup and lingerie—it all started with music. It was my first pen pal–ship to the world. To cut that off is to cut my communication off. All of these other things flourish on top of that foundation.

Now Taylor, Beyoncé and all the replacement girls can take a break, 2023 will be a Riri only year and I already stan.
