Rihanna - 9th Album

he / him
Drake is not going to appear let's be real. The two don't speak anymore and I believe the vibe between them is very awkward now.
Yeah, unfortunately, I think you're right. It's a shame though because they have so many great songs together—"Take Care," "Too Good," "What's My Name," "Work."

My money is on Jay-Z. He's the potential guest who makes the most sense to me on every level. Her bringing Drake out would be a moment that would have people talking for weeks, but I just don't see how it could be anything other than awkward and I'm sure she's aware of that. Eminem would make sense and I don't count him out, but as it was pointed out he headlined the halftime show last year and therefore already had his Super Bowl moment recently. Also, does anybody remember "The Monster"? (no shade, it's a genuine question)

Jay-Z is both a rap and a pop culture titan with many iconic hits to his name (people will lose their marbles to the opening notes of "99 Problems" or "N***** in Paris") who never got to have his Super Bowl moment yet. He has always been considered an important figure in Rihanna's story. She was presented as her protégé for a long time and they have a long history of working together. Them reuniting at the Super Bowl will make for a meaningful and powerful full-circle moment. When it comes to Rihanna's halftime show setlist, I believe "Umbrella" and "Run This Town" are a lock. I think people on this forum underestimate how big of a hit the latter was in the US and how popular it still is with a wide audience. It goes off live and was made to be played in a stadium, so mark my words: she'll perform it in some capacity.

Finally, Roc Nation is an executive producer of the show and I'm sure they'd rather keep the huge exposure a guest appearance during Rihanna's halftime show represents for one of their artists. For all we know, maybe Tinashe and Normani will show up on that stage...

Great point about Jay-Z but I'm amused at the thought of Rihanna bringing out one of the girlies she's more likely to confiscate a demo from than invite to the Super Bowl nn

Beyonce did it. Eminem is no Beyonce but I'm just saying it's not unheard of. But I don't want him to do any of his own songs and I don't see them doing ''The Monster'' as it wasn't such a big hit. Would he show up for just ''Love the Way You Lie''?

I'm down for Jay-Z 100% but, again, I don't him to sing any of his own songs. Rihanna has already a huge mission to fit all of her own hits in 12 minutes.

I mean if she brought Eminem out, which is unlikely, they would definitely do Love the Way You Lie over The Monster. Both of them are Eminem's songs though, and she just sings the hook, so I would prefer she brings out someone who is featured on one of her classic songs, like Jay-Z, which I think is very possible.

As I've said, I don't count Eminem out because "Love The Way You Lie" was that big and I think it would be a real crowd-pleaser, so I don't have any argument outside of him doing it last year – and I'm aware it's not a strong one.

I however can't escape the feeling that Beyoncé and Bruno Mars showing up during Coldplay's halftime show is a totally different story just because... none of this halftime show made any sense whats-so-ever and it still feels like a fever dream. Don't get me wrong, it was legendary and Beyoncé ATE but it really seemed like Coldplay didn't know what to do with their time-slot or didn't think they could deliver a proper Super Bowl moment – they could – coming after two phenomenal performers, so they just called them up and let them steal the show. I mean, they had just released a single featuring Beyoncé and didn't even do it yet they performed "Up&Up" which wasn't even a single at the time. This halftime show was pure non-sense to the point where it's almost admirable. It only felt like a vessel for Beyoncé to make herstory. And she sure did.

I think "Love On the Brain" and "FourFiveSeconds" might be much more likely to show up than we think. The former as a climax into a "We Found Love" finale... I would like to see it.

You make a good point about preferring that she dedicate more time to her solo material than material that she's featured on, but I low-key hope that we get an iteration of this medley:

I think this is close to realistic:

Let me bring this back. Anyone who genuinely thinks she's doing either Only Girl or This Is What You Came For thinks the Super Bowl is happening in like.. Yorkshire and not Arizona.

At this point, it won't be shocking if she just goes into what she's most comfortable with and how she already sees her discography meshing together:

00. Intro *some sample to a deep-cut like Bitch or Hard*
01. Rude Boy
02. Work / What's My Name *abridged, removes Drake*
03. Run This Town with Jay-Z mixed with Umbrella
04. Don't Stop The Music *Pon De Replay & SOS Interpolations*
05. We Found Love *abridged* / Where Have You Been
06. Needed Me
07. Diamonds

I know that it's highly unlikely that it'll happen, but I'd love to see the inclusion of "Break It Off" and an appearance by Sean Paul. It'll never happen because it only peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and she hasn't performed it live since the Good Girl Gone Bad Tour.
