Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

I'm so jealous of all you people who can use Spotify.. they just had to make it country-restricted.. Stupid copyright laws.

Yes, this should be in the Spotify topic..

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

Why does this album make me want to cry? I definitely don't dislike it! I'm finding it really emotionally heavy.

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

Whilst i don't think this is better then GGGB, it's a very good album. I've decided i do actually like it.

One thing i didn't understand about this though is, her getting hit by a car... and being shot at underwater. That didn't make sense.
Like I said earlier I took it to represent the 'death wish' element of it all (which is a pretty huge factor in Russian Roulette). The most 'serene' and graceful scene is the one where she's being shot dead suggesting that death might be the more 'serene' option for someone so fucked up that they would willingly enter a game where there's pretty good odds that they're gonna die.

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

I know PJ isn't necessarily rap friendly, but you have to admit that Young Jeezy (Or is he just going by Jeezy now?) totally makes Hard. His verse is so amazing, especially "Go Hard or go home, back to your residence". Glad it will be single #2.

Oh, and I am listening to The Last Song right now and I am starting to tear up slightly. I don't know why, but her vocals are so emotional and heartfelt. When she sings about holding hands with her firend again, that got to me. The production is flawless, the guitars (especially in the middle) are just ear-gasmic.

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

The album is really growing on me fast but I have to say that 'Fire Bomb' is still the one song to me that's sticking out the most.

The last BIG chorus is amazing.
Also love the beginning.

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

Hard is the best song on the album.Awesomeness.
I mildly enjoy Wait your turn , Russian Roulette , Stupid in Love and Photographs.
In my opinion the rest is crap.

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

I wish 'Stupid In Love' had a more interesting soundtrack 'cuz the lyrics are really good. It's just the music that's boring a bit.

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

Rude Boy is so damn good!!!! Love the bridge! "I like the way you touch me there, I like the way you pull my hair". So naughty! Love it! And also, "So get it up, time to get it up, you say you a rude boy, show me what you got now!". <3

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

I think it's a very cohesive album, but in all honesty, I don't hear any hits save maybe "Photographs," which would do well in Europe. Songs like "Te Amo" and "Rude Boy" have potential, but for me, they're a big step back career-wise. They sound like they could have been included on either of her first two records. "Fire Bomb" has a lot of potential, but the hook isn't strong enough for radio.

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

I've just listened to Te Amo again very properly and imagined I was the girl telling Rihanna that I love her. I'm almost in tears.

The sequence of Te Amo, Cold Case Love & The Last Song gives me serious chills up and down my spine. The Last Song especially just hits me very hard, when she sings it feels as though she will never see that person again.

What I want want want is what you want want want, give it to me baby like boom boom boom. Genius.

I was thinking about this all day while listening to the album. Do you seriously consider that line to be genious, or is that sarcasm? I sincerely hope it's sarcasm.

The whole album is something that just makes me feel weird……… I haven;t felt this depressed in months, but I'm really enjoying every second of it!

Same here! I know some of the songs are sad, but they actually make me feel something besides, "WOOHOO! THAT'S A HOT BEAT! LET"S DANCE!" (Or something like that, you know what I mean). I love this album because it takes me through so many emotions. Which is more than can be said for 90% of pop music these days.

Re: Rihanna - Rated R [Album Discussion]

The last four songs on the album are the ones that i really appreciate. Wait Your Turn took a really really long time but is starting to grow on me. There still is a little part of me which hates the song, maybe i like it cos i appreciate her having the guts to sing "i'm such a fucking lady"...

Apart from that Russian Roulette, Rude Boy and Photograph are also really good. Hard really annoys me for some reason. Maybe its really out of place on the album, or it lacks rhythm or i don't know.. something about that song makes me want to skip through after 1 minute. Same with Rockstar 101. Stupid In Love and Fire Bomb are okay. They will take some time to grow..

Overall, its alright. Not as bad as i expected. But i'm only favouring the album because of the last four songs. Without them, the album would probably be shit...
(and by the way, i finally got hold of an uncensored version of Disturbia.. i had been looking for that in HQ mp3 format since so long)

I'm really getting into "The Last Song"...

I really adore The Last Song. (As you can all probably tell by my last million posts raving about it). Judging by the title I just thought it would be a half baked throwaway track to finish the album. But I was really surprised to find out it was one of the best tracks on the album!
