RIP Amy Winehouse

I hate how Frank is always overlooked...

It's a natural, but unfair too, consequence of having an album like Back to Black. It's same with Michael Jackson and Thriller overshadowing his other albums.

Just desperately , desperately sad. I cried looking at some of her songs on Youtube yesterday evening. I loved her music, And however low she got , I always held some hope that she would make a remarkable comeback , get someway clean and continue to make music.
She was everywhere in 2007 wasnt she. Soem of the utter vitriolic scorn poured in her since yesterday by some people on various forums and blogs made my blood boil. We alll have her demons and crosses to bear. She was a human and some poor mothers daughter at the end of the day.

I would love Back To Black to get to Number 1 next week over that abominable JLS track. Its deserved and would be a triumphant ending.
I'm sure her spirit will be roaming the streets and pubs of Camden.

Amy , thank you for your talent and may you sleep well girl , queen of british soul and queen of Camden Town.

Back To Black is a flawless set of songs, but Frank is still one of the single most thrilling experiences I've ever had listening to a piece of music. I remember importing it on a whim back in 2003 and just literally being blown away by it all.

As a true music fan, I don't even have words to express how I feel about all this today. At the ripe old age of 29, I think this is the first of my own musical heroes that has passed on.

I second that. Fantastic.

I feel like I'm still waiting for someone to come along and say how this has all been a big sick joke.

Sadly, yes. But at least Frank is top five on iTunes, so more people will hear of it!

I do like Back To Black, but it's not an album I can just put on and listen to without being in the proper mood.

I third that. Really well-written and lovely piece highlighting the best of her work. I teared up a bit while reading it and watching the videos...

I couldn't believe it when a friend texted me yesterday saying she had died. I think I'll always remember that moment.. Part of me couldn't believe it but then one part of me was kind of expecting it and had been for years.

Rest in peace, Amy, you wonderful talented woman. It's such a shame the drugs got the better of you.

It would obviously be a tiny silver lining on a very large, dark cloud but if Back To Black finally reached #1 in the US and Frank got a new peak I would be so happy.

I still can't get my head around it! I felt like a sap for crying but I'm geniunely gutted. Me and my sister were saying how she's the first celebrity of our generation (meaning how she become famous when I was alive etc) to die, it feels strange.

Like someone else has said, it still feels like I'm waiting for Amy to turn up and say it was a mistake. It's such a shame.

Just a question, but are "Frank" and "Back to Black" eligible to re-enter the US album chart after all this time? I know Michael Jackson's abums were not but they were counted in the catalog chart.

"A pop catalog album is one that is more than eighteen months old and that has fallen below position 100 on the Billboard 200". They've changed the rules I think since MJ and do allow them to chart on the 200 now.

I remember feeling the exact same way when Aaliyah passed away. I was heartbroken - she was so young and she had so much potential. I'd just bought her Aaliyah album and I was listening to it non-stop. It's hard to say why someone who we've never met passing can affect us so much but I don't think feeling sad about someone dying should ever make you feel like a sap! It's sad! Haha. Those feelings are totally justified.

I always thought it a ridiculous rule. If an album sells more than any other album it should be #1 on the album chart that week, irrelevant of how old it is, where it was on the chart last week, three weeks ago, one year ago. The only rule should be about what qualifies as an album eg. run times, number of tracks etc and what qualifies to chart in the fist place eg. price, additional merchanidise etc.

Then again, we are talking about the US charts here, when have they EVER been a true reflection of just what people are buying?
