  1. Ok, so I have a few cassette singles with b-sides and remixes on that I can't get on CD or download, does anyone know how I upload them to my laptop.

I got a cassette player and plugged it to my laptop via the mic output, and recorded using Audacity, but the sound sounds distorted, despite the tapes being in good condition and playing fine afterwards.

I kept the volume low because I heard playing it too loud through the microphone slot can damage the soundcard, so I'm stumped.

Does anyone know how to do it?

  3. Yeah there are simple USB devices (which work like the USB mp3 turntables), but they cost around £20-30.

I thought about getting one a while ago, then realised I didn't really have enough cassettes left to make it worthwhile!

    EG.
