This. It's just thinly-veiled bias at this point because nearly all queens do this and have done so from the beginning. Tyra's legendary for the time package was almost entirely from her drag mother all the way back in season 2. Gowns are passed on and down as a tradition, especially within the pageant community.

If anyone needs to be clocked for "being unoriginal" it's the queen who's directly copied designers for nearly all her looks...

A good lewk is a good lewk, recycled or not.

I think my issue re: Lana vs Sam or Jewels is that I don't really understand how Kandy's dress fits with her drag. At least with Sam and Jewels' recycled looks, they fit into their broader visions of their drag aesthetic. I didn't really get that from Lana in regards to Kandy's look.

As for Lana vs Lexi, Lexi's outfits are directly inspired from specific designs but there's enough personal embellishments and changes to my eye that it's not directly copy and pasted - more heavily heavily inspired. Lana's Naomi look was literally the same presentation.

In both circumstances, there's a lack of vision and creativity for sure - and of course this franchise is disproportionately racist and heavy handed with criticism towards the black queens - but I find Lexi's presentation slightly less egregious in that regard.

Yeah I was expecting the hate the challenge but I thought it was a pretty good kii. Lexi and Onya killed it, but I didn't think anyone completely bombed the challenge even if the bottom two was correct.

Fair enough, but I think there's a difference between recycling a look that a few chronically online drag race fans have sesen re: Trinity and Shontelle's looks vs. a look that's literally been featured on the runway on the show by one of the show's most well known alumni. For me at least.

Still doesn't mean that Lana should specifically be dogged out over it but I do think there's a slight difference.

I get that perhaps the borrowing of the dress adds to the feeling some fans have that Lana was lacking a point of view, I suppose. But also, this show is insanely expensive to participate in, she's a young queen finding her POV... I don't know it didn't register to me as bothersome in any way.

I enjoyed this challenge for having potential, and producing some cute moments. The more people say they hate challenges like this where it's actually all up to the Queens, the more Ross Mathews vs The Ducks we'll get. So shh!

I don't mind that though. There was a theme, she spoke about being a fan in the past, and it was a tribute. I adore Lana, but for me, it felt so random to appear on the runway wearing an outfit we'd already seen from a season we're still trying to forget. She still looked great though.

To be fair though, wearing an outfit we’d already seen from a season before is something very unique for Lana. It’s something she’s never done before.

So watching Season 5 on WOW presents plus.

I forgot they really made a thing about safe being the worst in early seasons.

Also in Episode 2 they've edited out the mini challenge. I assume because of the T-Slur Chaser song being used. But this must be a new change as I don't remember it being cut before.
