RuPaul's Drag Race (S17)

Joella going was a surprise. I did think she was a mid out, but as she was giving good TV, I thought they’d keep her a while longer. But that runway was enough to put her in the bottom and not knowing the words to “Buttons” was a crime.

A lot of good performances from the queens this week - Onya, Suzie, Crystal, Sam, amongst others. This cast are winning me over.

I do like Kori, and think he’s beautiful out of drag, but three challenges in, I’m not understanding why he’s giving such main character energy. I’m hoping there is more to come.

And I’m kind of onboard with Hormona now. I wasn’t sure at first, but kind of love her.

...Was I the only one who genuinely didn't get what the challenge even was until they were watching it on the runway? Pay homage to iconic Drag Race scenes? Through songs?? Songs on compilation CDs??? Make a commercial for said compilation CDs like the ones from the 90s???? And you're in teams but also not?????

That said, fantastic episode of Drag Race tbh. I'm not sure how many I actually really enjoy out of the cast but I think their collective chemistry makes great TV. I'm also warming to Susie Toot? She's not as stuck in the prohibition era as I feared, and seems to be a great, grounded all-rounder that balances out some of the season's more... grating personalities. I feel like that was also one of the best runways we've had in a while.

Joella... production cooked her, honey, but she rolled around in the oil and seasoning and wrapped herself in the foil. That runway. The way they were determined to shoot her in profile so you never saw her entire face. The way she was clearly holding up the mattress. Talking about having to lipsync with her entire body and soul before proceeding to turn around for the first thirty seconds. Mess upon mess upon mess upon mess and I ate it up.

I continue to not even know who Lydia Butthole Collins is, as she seems to be getting zero screentime in the workroom and just... turns up on the runway.

Best cast since... I started watching the show?

I am so, so, so entertained by most of them. In and out of drag. And Untucked is actually truly relevant for once.

My favourite looks-wise is Butthole.

You were not. They rushed through that so quickly I had no idea that they filmed the skits that they also had to record their own vocals for it. I know the eps are already longer but this felt like it needed another 20 minutes for the filming of the challenge alone.
