I defended the episode lengths a few weeks ago for being snappier but this one was a mess. Barely felt like it had started before it was over. I think each queen got about 10 seconds of singing rehearsal time and 5 seconds of runway time. Everything zoomed by so fast it just left no lasting impression whatsoever apart from that Spice should have been in the bottom instead of Robin who was far from one of the worst. Robin also won the lipsync but then I consistently forgot Robin ever existed up to this point so I can't say I blame the producers for being determined to get rid.
The stuff with the old gays in Untucked was clearly cut from the main episode which was a shame as it should have been featured there but clearly there was just no room whatsoever.

Exactly! Besides the awards show what other successful programmes do they have?
Because they were confident that the gays who watch Drag Race would love to watch WeHo. Some stiff boardroom suits were like "Yes, it's going to be a programming block for the gays! They'll LOVE it".
As pointed out, MTV is struggling with programming which is probably why they moved Drag Race to this channel to begin with. But they severely fumbled.
If the WeHo show did not shorten Drag Race or come on between the show and untucked, no one would watch it -- but also it wouldn't have gotten all the hate it got.
Also there's over 100 Drag Race queens... you really couldn't have done a show with any of them instead?
Isn't their narrative that the shorter episodes are just to make it easier to broadcast them again at different occasions and has nothing to do with Weho?
Could be the narrative but definitely not the truth. If they wanted it all to fit in normal blocks, they would just air each episode with untucked and it wouldn't end up ending on a 30 minute mark.

This weeks episode was a bit of a mess, problem with such a big cast and shorter episodes is I barely know who any of these queens are. Speeding through it at the speed of light and a queen pops up and I’m like Who the F is that?!
