RuPaul's Drag Race UK (S3)

  1. I think they were way too hard on Charity overall but the makeup this week felt too kid's Halloween party and not drag enough. I hate agreeing with Michelle but had she done glam with the same runway she would have been safe, easily.

Also, the votes for her to leave made no sense, really, and felt a lot more personal (based on the reasons given) than the votes against Scarlett, who in fairness did actually bomb the challenge (while also looking an absolute mess for reasons that did not seem to relate to the advert) and could have stepped up her runway look more.

  3. Scarlett getting the Laganja treatment. You hate to see it.

So what why did no one win though?

  5. Ladies this season is a SLOG to get through. It’s only made matters worse that Canada is actually wildly enjoyable so far.

  6. I think what is jarring with most of these girls is that they are moderately entertaining outside of drag and in confessionals… then become absolute personality vacuums as soon as they are in drag.

Hopefully something we’ll be asking after the finale.

  8. She is also really good at painting a more conventional glam look - she looked amazing both times she did it:

  9. Charity is clearly exceptionally talented but they didn't understand her and it did feel repetitive at times. The silhouette looks the same and she always had something stuck to her face. That being said she's probably my favourite from the season and she showed such fucking amazing looks.

    Also I love Scarlet

  10. Victoria needed two fully working knees as she would have carried this season.

  11. Why she didn't get the solo win is beyond me

  12. This, this and this.

Ru wants to be "on trend" but still he is enjoying one type of Drag Queen, so why on earth did you have to bring something new on the show just to tear it down?

This week Charity didn't deserve to be in the bottom, let alone go home.
Also, base don the judges critiques, there was a clear top 02 in River and Vanity... so why don't assign a RuPeter Badge?

This show really doesn't make sense most of the times. Well, next week Nadine will be there, so YAY!

  13. Halfway through the episode and it feels very “let’s have another H&M moment”. These challenges are always shit thrown at the wall. It almost feels like Charity’s group was marginally better but Ru was desperate to kick her out.

  14. Ru inventing hoops and jumps to not give an Asian queen her deserved flowers? Makes you think.

  15. I actually think Charity came off as really unlikeable the last two eps , even in the talking heads.

I knew she was doomed from the start with her aesthetic. Incredibly talented but just not what the show conventionally prefers. Once someone in here said Ru hated her i noticed it more!

  16. To be fair I think he said he would have liked to have seen River on screen more, rather than on screen as the voice of Draglexa.

  17. Didn't both Choriza and Krystal get worse critiques than Charity? The fact that she was in the bottom twice in a row for minimal reasons tells me Ru and Michelle just wanted to get rid of her, regardless of how she was doing.

  18. I see a lot of people hating on the challenge, but to be fair, it was SO open ended, a mildly creative person with a bit of artistic vision could have pulled of something infinitely better. I like it when they keep these challenges up to the queens because it shows us a lot about who they are, and it turns out they're all fairly vacuous. It would have probably been better had the queens been working alone.

I need a Choriza, River, Crystal top 3.

  19. If the filming schedule this season was as tight as the rumours suggested then they probably had basically no time at all to even script these commercials. It seemed pretty telling that Krystal and Charity were arguing over whether they had time to finish scripting or actually do their make-up. A show which wanted queens to thrive wouldn't be giving them the bare minimum of time to write a script and then demand creative innovation.

I thought it was also indicative of time constraints that they did the challenge in two groups rather than individually as has usually been the case for the commercial challenges. It sounded like they only got 45 minutes of filming each, now imagine multiplying that by 8 commercials rather than 2.

  20. Sad to see two queens with such compelling points of view be singled out like that for two weeks in a row. I'd have them both in the top tier with Krystal and River.
