S Club Juniors/8

The fact that this kid sang more in the band than Hannah!

How cool though that he got to that and he did an amazing job

Sorry to be a party pooper, but the problem I had with this at the time and now, is several. NB. I am a huge fan of S Club 8 and my criticisms come from a place of love and frustration, as I promise I’m not being negative for the sake of it

Firstly, the competition winner was so well deserved but it only highlighted the lack of singing the rest of the group did. The fact a winner could easily slot in and replace 80% of the group in one fell swoop made the premise of ‘8’ apparent singers seem a little of a joke

Secondly, this boy could actually sing and could do so live. Unfortunately, the rest of the group resorted to mining making it even more of a mockery. Both Stacey and Frankie should have taken the step to sing live with him or at least be backed up by the band is not feeling confident.

Finally, the notion that a competition winner could perform with a band that had already been brought together through a talent contest, gave that impression of how replaceable they all were at any one moment. It just felt a little ‘icky’ which was a shame as the winner was decent and if that good, should have had a place in the band from the get go.

There I said it. I’m going back to listening to Sundown now.

I…don’t think it was that deep.

True…most probably. It might just have been a Monday rant after a long day of work.

Let’s get back to focusing on why the single mix of ‘Don’t Tell Me Your Sorry…’ isn’t on streaming and why ‘Rush’ wasn’t a single. Travesty, indeed!

It's as if situations change
But Rochelle had a good voice, we can hear that in Fool No More and obviously she was chosen for the band alongside Hannah

Frankie, admittedly her voice got weaker as she got older but she still had to earn her place in The Sats so they must have thought she was good enough too

Oh my god is that who that is? I remember seeing him on Instagram making a deal about coming out after the world thought he was straight and singing to a girl on X Factor and promoting a song.

In another 'random karaoke winner who sang Sundown with S Club 8' update that no one asked for- I've just seen that Aidan co-wrote On My Own for Claire Richards. Small pop world!
