Saint Etienne

It wouldn’t kill them to do another run judging by the response of the generally annoyed many who aren’t going to get the bonus CD.
The whole point of a limited edition bonus EP is that it is actually limited edition for those first people ‘through the door’ surely? You don’t print more because some people missed out; that defeats the point of it being a bonus.

Oh I get that. My St Et collection is full of their limited items.

But the stories of people getting booted from their final carts and missing out whilst the site seemingly added more later, it just smacks of another St Et farce regarding their limited CDs. Particularly as this isn’t even for a limited reissue, it’s their new album.

With that in mind surely they could have said anyone with a ‘day one’ purchase gets a bonus EP? Or something similar.

I miss the days of buying early copies of the album and it coming with a limited second disc, but not this ten minutes of madness and hard luck, buy it from the scalpers on eBay.

Good compromise.
Honestly I surprised they don’t have that approach - the band would know how many CDs to make (saving them finding a box of them three months later under the stairs…) it would allow those in other territories the chance to get things like the bonus EP, and I doubt anyone would begrudge waiting a bit longer to receive it because they’d had a fair chance to purchase the qualifying product.

I’m sure someone more qualified could tell me why not but it seems like a win/win for everyone- happy fans, more day one purchases to nab that elusive chart position for more promotion…

Did they really think 3000 would be enough for the demand with the release of a new album? It’s not as if it’s one of their many reissues they’re trying to tempt us with.
Would they usually sell a lot more than 3000 copies of a new album?

This time of year and the British weather really make them come into their own for med I’ve been hammering the winter playlist I made. Appreciating gems I didn’t pay too much attention to the first time around. Slow Down at the Castle is actually beautiful and so sad. Also I Threw It All Away is standing out. The two new ones fit perfectly and I really love them both. They’re like magical oddities that you usually discover on one of their hard to find compilations.
And The Process is gorgeous

I'm so pumped, I've been relistening to a bunch of older material and I really think Tiger Bay was a good 5 years ahead of its time. They haven't had a bad album (except Home Counties) and I can't wait for The Night. That guitar solo, those arpeggios, the vocals. It's pure concentrated Etienne magic.

I've ordered the splatter vinyl and CD from Drift. £36.43 delivered inc. signed postcard + 10% off for joining the mailing list. Bandcamp, Rough Trade, Resident and Monorail have their own postcards but I'm not buying the album another 4 times to get the set! Drift's postcard is the nicest.

I got a dispatch email from their store this morning so hoping this arrives tomorrow so I can enjoy it over the weekend.
Has anyone had a chance to listen yet?
