I think an album of mostly instrumental pieces made for listening on your headphones charting at 47 is quite a success, actually.Looks like the only place this charted was at 47 on top sales. Weirdly it’s not on the vinyl chart, so I am wondering if the staggered deliveries affected this?
And pressed to order within 24hrs of sale time so none of the last album release bun fight nonsense. Almost like they read my suggestion! As a collector of The Ets’ CD singles, this is welcome news.
I know what you mean. The last three albums (tho I enjoy some of the songs on them) have just seemed less than essential to me which hadn’t happened with them before, perhaps a little for Turnpike House but I still played it more then the current ones. Never envisaged it happening!I don't think I have ever felt so indifferent about them as I do now, which is a shame.
Is that because of the sort of material they’re releasing?I don't think I have ever felt so indifferent about them as I do now, which is a shame.

After Words and Music which is peak StEt for me, Home Counties felt like a lot of average songs, most of which wouldn’t get on an album in the past.I can appreciate that. I hated Home Counties upon release because it seemed to be Saint Etienne pastiching themselves. I’ve come round to it now since really listening to it on vinyl. But we’ve had eight years of low-energy Ets now, and I too would love some bops.
