Say Lou Lou - Dust, Pt.1 (EP) + "Above Love"

This is actually rather good!
At first I was a bit worried, when I noticed that it´s yet another cover of the Burt Bacharrach classic. This has been covered to hell and back by so many different artists that it´s almost impossible to bring anything NEW (!) to the table.
But somehow this John Carpenter/Chromatics synth-groove works quite well with their bedroom harmonising.
Sultry pop suits them much better than the overly serious, joyless trip-hop pastiche from the last album.

I've (somehow) never heard any other version of this song so this is pretty much a new song to me. I love it, especially the weird needle-slip outro.

I feel like we might have a bit of a wait until the album though. It seems like this is meant to serve the same purpose as Stayin' Alive - it's just a little something to tide us over during the wait for the album proper.

Did you click some of my links to check out some of the covers? It seems in the 60´s and early 70´s you were not allowed on a stage without your LOV-cover (in the 80´s and 90´s that honour went to another Bacharrach song: Walk On By).
Thanks, but no thanks for reminding me of their Staying Alive cover...that was atrocious and I had wiped it from memory.
