Say Lou Lou - Dust, Pt.1 (EP) + "Above Love"

I never got into their second album but this EP is truly amazing.

The combination of their voices and these touches of folk(?) in the production give it such a distinctive touch.

This EP is brilliant. The dreamy spark from the debut is back, but some of the delicious noir, twisted Americana styling from the second are here now too.

In My Dreams is absolutely breathtaking, and Wong Kar Wai hasn't left my head since I first heard it. Waiting For a Boy, which I'll admit didn't grip me at first is so damn intoxicating now. But but isn't a bad song on the bunch.

Give us a vinyl, queens! I'd love then to do a headline UK show too. They are real elusive chanteuses these days but as long as the tunes are this good I'll keep on stanning in any way I can.

I have been playing Dust and Wong Kar-wai pretty consistently since their release, but the rest of the EP didn’t really hit. Looking forward to more though!

I’ve never really liked the idea of two- or three-part releases of albums, but to no real surprise, the EP and latest single are gorgeous. So far this is shaping up to be a fantastic album. I feel like this is perfect sound for them and I’m so happy that they still give us music even if it’s long gaps in between.

Edit:

Found this short but informative article that gives a bit of insight to why they’ve been away for so long. Also them mentioning Madonna ( Ray of Light and Music specifically) as well as Sugababes and All Saints as inspirations for the new album. It’s like they made this album for me!
