Maybe just desperate to gloss over the news about Joel and how it went down like a lead balloon with basically everybody. So if it ends up a cameo, why spoil it?
Or do they just want some hype…
Oh that would make sense. Bet they were inspired by thisI would not buy Sidney having visions of Roman and I didn't even hate it in 5,6 like most. I don't see that journey for her. Ghostface using A.I tech to mess with Sidney with ghosts of her past (bring Jill and her flannel back!) would tie in with rumors this is more tech based then every before. Spoiling Scott coming back is very desperate and seems like they are trying to please fans pissed about Mark.
Giving Billy Loomis a daughter, going to Stu's house, recreating Gale/Sidney's punch, giving the killers the same motive in Scream 6 as Scream 2 and the list goes on. This is a franchise with a continuing story--they're always going to revisit the past in some way.Just when the franchise was finally moving forward in 5 and 6 we are back peddling the past…
Except making Sam Billy's daughter was an excellent way to introduce a new lead and then retire Sidney and shift over to Sam. There were so many exciting avenues that they could have gone down with Sam as the lead, especially with her being the daughter of a serial killer who herself is stalked by same killer identity her father created. But no. They royally fucked that up and now look at what we have.Giving Billy Loomis a daughter, going to Stu's house, recreating Gale/Sidney's punch, giving the killers the same motive in Scream 6 as Scream 2 and the list goes on.
