We won't know until it's officially announced but the reports are saying this is for Avengers so she'd be working with Ian McKellan. Either way I wouldn't say she's too old. For one, we don't know what the story will be and Neve can clearly still handle action if she's doing Scream films.

Even that scenario makes no sense. With such a stacked cast, why introduce a character tied to a group of heroes who are being phased out? The only silver lining is that she'll have minimal screen time and never appear again after these two movies are done.
Not to mention, Neve just is a bad fit for Polaris in general.
I agree. It's nice to see her getting more projects lately. She's also back as a series regular for the upcoming season of Lincoln Lawyer. Exciting times for her and to be a fan of hers.

He was and while yes, it could happen. The budget to change all those things would be so high. So probably not.
Sarah Michelle Gellar has said she was wanting to return as Cici in Scream 7 but never got approached about it. Her gagging the interviewer is quite iconic.

I guess I can see the logic when it's laid out like this. Still, a bit disappointing and I can't see any real reason for her coming back? Skeet, Matthew and Scott were all Ghostface so that makes sense, Cici was just a (albeit iconic) side character who was in like 3 scenes. I thought she was doing well for jobs at the moment though? Maybe not.

Oh is she? Well long may she remain unemployed and looking for work then.
She has season 2 of Dexter, the Buffy reboot, another new tv show Bad Summer People, an animated series and the Ready or Not sequel. SMG is booked and busy which leads me to think her Scream comments are just being supportive and nostalgic. It's always been rumored she was unhappy with how small her role was in Scream 2 so maybe it's just wanting to be a bigger part to such an iconic franchise.
When it comes to people coming back as a doppleganger, I don't know that I'd want that from anybody but the one person I could accept it from is maybe Drew, mainly because her look is so different now. I could see them potentially pulling that off.
