Severance (Apple TV+)

What a cliffhanger this last episode ended on! I’m gagging for the finale now but don’t want it to be over.

I know Ms. Cobel already had a rocky relationship with the board but I was really not expecting her to be fired! It totally shifts her role her role in the show now and also gives her a lot of power to wield against Lumon given that she’s not severed? I wonder how much she actually knows about what’s really going on though.

He/Him
I feel like this show is a masterclass in teasing information and not giving away too much all at once. It’s not a “style over substance” kind of situation. I truly look forward to it every week. The wait for season 2 will be painful. The cliffhanger for the latest episode was so good and has be waiting on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how it goes.

This is also why I hate Netflix binge releases. How can you fall in love with something that is so quickly digested? Especially when it’s a mystery/thriller.

Time for a dance party!

And they didn‘t chicken out on anything. All the things that needed to be said to prepare the story for season 2 happened organically. The writing! The acting! The cinematography!

I know this has kind of blown up compared to other Apple TV offerings but it‘s still shamefully flying under the radar. It‘s one of the very best shows of the last few years and it deserves so much more attention.

I just finished and that finale was absolutely amazing, wow. One of the best season finales I've seen, they planted so many unanswered questions and cliffhangers.

The way I gasped when Mark called Mrs Cobel by her name at the party. I have a feeling they'll hire her back since she was the one who told them about the switches being turned on. I'm also so curious what her actual opinion of Mark is, she seems to like him despite being awful to him in the office, but it was weird how when his outie told her that he was thinking about quitting, she sounded happy for him? And there's obviously some reason why she's been spying on specifically his outie life.

Also, I think I was falling asleep during episode 7 but I somehow totally missed that reveal that Casey is Gemma, so I was equally gagged when Mark found the picture of them in the finale. Part of me thinks that Casey is some sort of robot/not a real person?

So many lingering questions and plot lines....I'm super interested to know Cobel's story, with her weird shrine and stuff. And the goats??

Also, the sex show thing with the masks after Dylan's waffle party...what the hell was that?

I think it's pretty clear that the higher-ups want to treat the outie and innie as two entirely different people (the way Helly's dad said "I heard what your mean innie did to you" etc.)

The more I think about it, the more I realized what an absolute mess it had become in just one night. I mean, the sister who does not work at Lumon has found out Mark's neighbor who's been taking care of her baby is his boss spying on both of them all this time? How the hell will they manage to cover that up/shush her?

Yeah that's true. It's weird how she changed her entire persona outside of work, I'm really interested in her backstory.

And yes, shit hit the fan fast. I had a sigh of relief when it switched to Mark's sister talking to him about finding a journalist to spill the story to, I was so scared he wasn't going to get a chance to tell her before he switched back to his outie. And of course Helly getting some of it out in her speech, but I'm guessing that they'll try to just try to say it was a joke. But yeah, they aren't going to have an easy job covering up Mark's story with Cobel.

Poor Irv had the most boring outie story, but I have a feeling it will get more interesting in season 2....it looks like his outie was against severance/researching it?

I loved the series, although found it a little slow in parts, but that finale more than made up for it. I can't remember the last time I saw such a gripping episode of something, I actually couldn't look away.

Ugh, the finale was absolutely brilliant. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Why are more people not talking about this show?? Hopefully some Emmy noms will give it the attention it deserves. Quentin Tarantino called it a masterpiece on Instagram.

I don't know how I can withstand the wait for next season.
