Shakira - Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran

She actually did release Illegal here last year, it had a boxing video for it - very weird and just an awful single to release, the single tanked and they followed it up with another re-release of the album!

They put Oral Fixation 1 and 2 together in a box and added a Don''t Bother remix and a DVD including videos and her MTV 5 star concert which I went to back in October 2005.

Beautiful Liar is actually a Beyonce single featuring Shakira, much like Me Against The Music was a Britney single featuring Madonna. Shakira will probably forget about it and never perform it - she hasn''t done it on her over 100 date tour to my knowledge.

I can''t believe they never gave Something a chance as a single. It''s my fave Shaky song ever!

I think Illegal did quite good here in Germany. Or at least it was a moderate radio hit.
But I get why she''s constantly releasing songs that are not even on the album. It''s pretty shitty compared to "Laundry Service" which had hit after hit.

Something is a terrible song. It would have done nothing for her as a single at all.

I agree with the person who said Timor should have been released.. in the UK at least. It''s too controversial for America. I don''t think she''s a big fan of that song though. Boo.

La Tortura was played on some of the satellite channels just after the success of Hips Don''t Lie so I presumed that was going to be the next single but then it just dissapeared without a trace, like some of Shakira''s best singles.

La Tortura was actually sent to the music channels in June 2005 as the lead single for Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 but naturally the public didn''t take to it and it was dropped after a week or so. It got a couple of plays on The Box but that was about all. After the success of Hips Don''t Lie a few channels started playlisting it again but I don''t think it stayed around for long. Q actually listed La Tortura in their sexiest videos of all time, so it got a bit of rotation whilst that "programme" was airing.

What confuses me about Shakira is that she is really creative and artistic in Spain, but she gets rid of all that for her English releases. She''s releasing the FIFTH single from Fijacion Oral in Spain soon (Las De Le Intuicion)

ShakiraMedia.com have a little preview of it on their site and she''s adonned a purple wig. Her English videos need more of that bizarre style, and less shots of her pissing around in a straw skirt.

I totally forgot Don''''t Bother was released... I think it suffered from the overkill of Since You Been Gone, which is a pity cause it''''s a brilliant song. She really has screwed up this album...

The first version (as in the first time Oral Fixation 2 was released) didn''''t have Hips Don''''t Lie.
Then Hips Don''''t Lie was released and was huge.
Then new version of the album was released with Hips Don''''t Lie on it, and then no more singles.
Then the next huge single is Beautiful Lier, which is also huge... which isn''''t on the first or second version of the album!

WHAT!

It seems to me that she is accidently saying "oops, my album was crap... better release a few new singles that are good." Unless she released La Totura or Illegal here and I just didn''''t notice?

What is she on?

It gets worse.

Las De La Intuicion has been re-recorded in English, ''Pure Intuition'' and will be probably get a single release in the UK.

This song isn''t on any version of volume 1 or 2.

So looks like there will be another re-release! One things for sure, anyone who bought the first version of OF2 will be pissed off!

As for the song, it''s a terrible translation. And I think her diction has actually got worst since ''Laundry Service''. It may as well be a foreign lauguage.

If she didn''t have enough singles on Oral Fixation 2 the first time around (jesus how complicated) she should have just waited. The world would have waited for Shakira, the world wants to love Shakira... but she''s making it difficult.

So there will now be 3 versions of Oral Fixation 2? Is she on crack?

This will go down in history as the most mis-managed album promotion in the history of the world, besides Forever by the Spice Girls. Look how anthemic and genius and lasting and AMAZING Laundry Service was... they could have built on that, but they''re just fucking it up. It takes some work to fuck up with Shakira, she''s pretty brilliant like. UH!

I remember suggesting a long time back on Shakira forums that the idea of one english album and one spanish album of the same name but with different songs was a bad idea and I got shot down for it.

24 tracks was always going to spread Shaki thinly. A much better idea would have been one album with half spanish tracks, half English tracks, and release different singles in different territories (like Nelly did)

Something like this...

1. La Tortura
2. Hip Don''t Lie
3. Animal City
4. Las De La Intuicion
5. Don''t Bother
6. La Pared
7. Dia Especial
8. Illegal
9. Timor
10. Lo Imprescindible
11. Dreams For Plans
12. Para Obtener Un Si

Latin markets

La Tortura
Las De La Intuicion
Dia Especial
La Pared

English speaking markets

Hips Don''t Lie
Animal City
Timor
Don''t Bother

Am I sad?

She wrote absolutely loads of tracks for the Oral Fixation albums didn''t she? I think every song on Volume 1 is amazing, and I daresay every track on Volume 2 would work in Spanish; I think her lyrics in English sometimes let her down.

Her enunciation does seem to have got worse - especially on Pure Intuition and Beautiful Liar.

That''s not being sad, it''s called having half a brain! Why did no one mention this to her? She could have just packed in the bsides... made something of every release.

Also, how shit are the album covers? When I saw Oral Fixation 1 it made me go off her a bit... and how could they have made such bad covers for something with the best most promising title in the world!

It has occured to me that with Fijacion Oral being released on 7th June 2005, Shakira is still releasing singles from that album TWO YEARS after it''s initial release date.

Is this some kind of record?

Apparently, "Pure Intuition" was recorded for a SEAT campaign and has been available for legal download in some countries since early this year, and the video is meant for her DVD, so I don''t think it will be a ''proper'' single - the song has been at radio in certain places (in both forms) for ages! She was promoting 2 records at once in the territories that got the further Spanish singles anyway, but the last ''official'' single was apparently "La Pared," which charted last year, so it would be just over 1 and a half years, really! I don''t think that''s that uncommon - Bjork released "Homogenic" in September 1997, and released the fifth and final single from it ("All Is Full Of Love") in June 1999, making the album last 2 months off of 2 years!
