The album is set to miss the top 20 in the US which feels like a bit of a comedown from his other albums

I realise he wants a different level of fame but… Missing the top 20 feels like a bit of a disaster.
It feels like the singles flopped, no one bought tickets to the movie and everyone just gave up.
Maybe I’m a bit biased towards Halsey but The Great Impersonator was a great release week campaign which paid off in the charts and this really should have followed a similar strategy.

I feel like Why Why Why actually had some solid potential, more than anything else on the album....why didn't they do more to push it? I still don't know why he didn't do it on the VMAs.
Please he'd kill for a Harry Styles successful campaign.

I really don't think his heart is in it anymore for the big kind of promo campaign he'd need to make his music a success anymore. And that's fine, his mental health comes first. He seems like he is in a better place, but still has some lingering trauma from the last few years.

Yeah the music needs a makeover and some personality. It's all so cardboard, and he could change his approach now to go with his queer liberation. Dance diva Shawn with moody bops, like a successful Josef Salvat, or dirty club Shawn with horny bops like a zoomer JC Chasez.

That’s never been him and likely never will. I think some people need to accept that Shawn just isn’t for them.
The whole enlightened aesthetic is snooze worthy to go with the really quite bland new music. It's giving boring on boring. Interviews about daily routines and self-discipline aren't sexy, even if you try to counteract them with feet pics. The people need more. If all it took was being hot there'd be a lot more good looking male popstars.
Benson Boone isn't my cup of tea, but that's a hot guy who has a good voice and I can see the appeal of his anthemy type songs. It's a package. Part of Shawn's package was catchy supermarket radio hits – where have they gone?

JC is now starring in a Meow Mix commercial, so I wouldn't advise Shawn to follow in his footsteps. Would welcome the Basement Jaxx collab though!
Also the appeal of these new gen of guys with guitars is that they are country-adjacent at a glance. They fit on a Morgan Wallen line-up as well as they would on a Sabrina Carpenter one so they please multiple audiences and are easier to market at this moment in time.
The nearly half a decade break between albums obviously didn’t help. And the 4 years since Wonder feels even longer because of the pandemic.
