Sky Ferreira - "Don't Forget" + General Discussion

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

I still think it'd be better to keep everything in one thread though.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

Guardian sounds like a Martika track from the 80's. Amazing.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

God this sounds amazing and I prefer it to anything on NTMT barring You're Not the One.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

It sounds like it has potential. Can't wait to hear the full thing.

But yeah, I want more fuzzy guitars & noise on the next album, too.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

I don't want more Night Time, My Time, I'm excited to hear Sky move into a new direction like she's always done in her career. Guardian sounds like it's taking cues from Love In Stereo and I would love an album of this sound.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

I love it!

I'm kind of glad she's going in a different direction? I do love how clean and crisp it sounds compared to NTMT.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

Guardian sounds great. I want her sound to progress, but I don't want her to stray too far from the grunge pop/rock of NTMT. Guardian sounds like an 80's ballad (i.e an amazing sound for her to continue on).

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

Guardian sounds spectacular. I hope the Be My Baby-beat is slightly amped up for the final version though.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

I hope she also does a studio version of Asking For It. Such a good cover.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

Sky's visuals are so good. She never disappoints. Even Obsession got a pretty good music video.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

She posted a few tweets about what happened during the last campaign:

Heavy Metal Heart video: It was a project I did with Grant Singer & Ian Bradley with MTV. Not the official video. The Omanko video was just ton of footage DIIV and I made (originally without any intention of making anything out of it). You know... for fun?! I originally planned on making official videos for most of the songs on the record, but I could never get the budget I needed in order to make the videos that I wanted to make. It's all or nothing. It's a shame because labels/managers, etc. don't think it's necessary unless it's a single.

When it comes to singles (specifically pop music), they think single = radio = maybe music video if it gets on radio... and you can't get on the radio if nobody is promoting you. All of the videos for Night Time, My Time were either paid by me, sponsored, or were miracles made by Grant Singer. That's why I don't understand why people get angry about product placement in music videos. If it's done tastefully.

I really hope the next campaign/era works out how she wants it to.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

So the Heavy Metal Heart video is actually a "tastefully done" commercial for an MTV-sponsored product that just happens to work as a music video for the song? I wonder if it's going to come out or not.

Re: Sky Ferreira - Second Album & Singles

I hope radio gets behind her new music. If NTMT had been released by a male guitar band, they probably would have been all over it. The media system sucks sometimes.
