Sky Ferreira - "Don't Forget" + General Discussion

Reading the old thread makes me hunger for that cover of Liz Phair's "Explain It To Me" all over again.

It'd be a perfect fit for an album titled "Masochism," too.

Title is perfect. I've been frothing at the mouth for this; easily my most anticipated project of 2015 (praying it comes out this year). Big crunchy industrial electronics layered between fuzzy guitars and big 80's choruses.

Also she posted a photo recently of herself with Ethan Kath (of Crystal Castles). Would be brilliant if they were working on something.

This is going to be very interesting. Night Time, My Time worked because it was über-focused and extremely on point, but it seems like Sky's returned to her old pick-n-mix approach and is currently working with many different people.

She'll probably change the name six times until the release, though.

I still remember when Night Time, My Time was called "Wild At Heart", "I'm Not Alright", "I Will"...

Justin Raisen, Ariel Rechtshaid, Ariel Pink, Charli XCX, Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes of Primal Scream and (unconfirmed) Gesaffelstein.

Ready for them to unleash their drugged out indie 'Sisters are Doin' it for Themselves'.

Wasn't Wild At Heart a different album altogether? A bit more Fiona Apple style in the vein of Ghost rather than what NTMT is.

Yes, I think the Ghost EP is the cut-down version of that album, just like As If! is the cut-down version of Cry Baby. (I could be wrong. The Sky Ferreira saga is so confusing to me.)

I have faith in Sky. Despite many issues, genre changes, etc she has always delivered solid music at the very least.

The title is intriguing and if she builds off Night Time's sound, I think she pull off something incredible.

(And, let's be real, probably DIIV.)

I wouldn't mind that. DIIV are great.

Sky said what they recorded together sounded a bit like t.A.T.u.

Wild at Heart and I'm Not Alright were titles Sky came up for her post-As If! material, which includes what ended up in the Ghost EP + Werewolf (I Like You) and I'm On Top from the B-Sides Part 1 thing. She then scrapped everything and recorded Night Time, My Time, which was originally going to be called I Will.

After getting a bit more into Sky over the last few months my excitement for this is steadily rising. The list of collaborators sounds fantastic; I'm especially curious to see if she and Gesaffelstein came up with anything.

(I'm also praying this doesn't take two years to come out like Night Time, My Time did. My heart goes out to y'all for sticking around through all of that.)

Masochism seem a bit obvious in an Ultraviolence kind of way, and to me Sky's work represents so much more than the lame post-Tumblr tortured rich teen act such a title infers, but Night Time, My Time is one of my favourite albums ever so I am ready to be brainwashed.

These were all different projects. Wild At Heart was the Fiona Apple/Shirley Manson-esque material and I'm Not Alright was more of the 80s stuff in the vein of "Lost in My Bedroom." They were both condensed and merged, creating the Ghost EP. I Will was another EP that was going to be released to make up for another push back. It was meant to be a preview of the new material she was working on with Ariel, but it was scrapped when she decided to create Night Time, My Time. I also remember her tweeting that one of these titles was actually a misquote and that she hadn't actually had a proper name for the project yet, I think that was I'm Not Alright.

Sky must be reading the thread because she just said she's had this title since last May.

I've known the album title since last May (I was on a flight from Seattle to Dublin) & wrote the song onboard next to @SirJohnnyDanger aka the complete opposite of how I named Night Time, My Time lol
