✦ SLASHER XIV: MURDER IN EXHECESLEY MANOR ✦ (Part of a Special Double Feature) ✦ THE END

image.png

The esteemed Charles Exhecesley, owner of the (in)famous Exhecesley Manor, was found dead in his bedchamber. The cause of death was obvious, a bullet to the head, shot at close range. While at first it might have looked like suicide, forensic investigation determined it was very much murder, and, not only that, but the gun wasn't the only murder weapon. Evidence of four other weapons being used was found on Charles' body - a heavy, round object (likely a crystal ball) crushed his right hand, an especially vicious cat o' nine tails left deep wounds on his back, an antique dagger pierced his heart, and there were signs of an injection, presumably of a paralysing poison on his left arm. Investigators determined all these weapons were used in quick succession, first the poison, then the cat o' nine tails, then the crystal ball, then the dagger, and the bullet to the head to seal the deal. It was concluded that these five weapons couldn't have all been used by the same person, but rather that this was a case of five maniacs working together.

Days later, Charles' extensive family and closest associates were gathered for the reading of his will, which was something certainly nobody wanted to miss, considering Charles was one of the wealthiest men in the country, owner of vast riches and a number of properties, most important of which Exhecesley Manor itself, and who wouldn't want some of that for themselves. It was @soratami, Charles' executor's task to read the will, and it said "Friends, I've prepared this will a few short days ago, and, if you're hearing this then it means that, as for a while I suspected would happen, I've been murdered. While finding out about this plot on my life for the first time scared me, in time I realised I was at peace with it. I've lived a long and confortable life, but the years were catching up with me and deep inside I knew it was time to move on. As you know - it is, after all, the reason you're gathered here today, I never had children and so have no direct heirs. As such, I propose a game - I know the people who killed me are in this room. In fact, I know exactly who they are, and I left a note with this information with the executor. And before anyone gets any ideas, don't try anything with @soratami. If anything happens to him, no-one here will receive a single penny. So, the game I propose is: Those present here have x days to find out who the five people who killed me are. If you succeed, then my riches will be evenly shared between any involved in the investigation. If you fail, it'll instead go to my killers, as a token of respect for their boldness, intelligence and cunning. You have full access to my manor and all of its contents while the game is on, and while you are free to leave, anyone who does so will be disqualified and lose access to my fortune, and, if it happens to be one of the killers, handed over to the authorities on top of that. @soratami will guide you through the game over the next few days, and, if you have any questions about the rules, please do ask him. And with that, let the game begin."

ROLES

The Killers

☣ The Alchemist ☣
Expert in all sort of potions, poisons, elixirs and serums. With his concoctions, he's capable of shutting down other players' special powers for a day, though he can only target one player per day, and each player can only be targeted once in the game.

✯ The Clairvoyant ✯
An inscrutable eccentric who claims to have psychic powers. Able to check someone's role daily, but only gets it right every other day.

♕ The Dominatrix ♕
An extreme sadist and expert on all instruments of torture. Controls who the The Submissive votes for during the first three days of the game and will kill him automatically if he either doesn't obey or reveals his role in the thread.

☠ The Executioner ☠
The mysterious leader of the five. Little is know about him, but his influence allows him to cast a second, secret vote in each elimination (which can't be the same as his public vote).

❖ The Thespian ❖
Specialises in period dramas but is highly adaptable and able to play any role. Starts with no special power, but inherits the power of the first other Killer to get eliminated. Her aptitude for disguise also means her role can't be accurately checked.

The
Beneficiaries

The Actor
Counterpart to the Thespian. Starts with no special power, but will inherit the power of the first special Beneficiary to be killed or eliminated. His role also can't be accurately checked.

The Anti-Hero
Technically one of the good guys, but not afraid to play dirty, the Anti-Hero won't go down without a fight. If killed or eliminated, can choose to immediately eliminate another player.

The Detective
A sleuthing professional who lives for these kinds of situations. Able to read a redacted transcript of the Killers' conversation each day.

The Doctor
Able to bring the Killers' target back from the brink of death. Can't attempt to save the same player twice in a row.

The Fortuneteller
Counterpart to the Clairvoyant. Able to check someone's role daily, but only gets it right every other day.

The Sentinel
Counterpart to the Executioner. With the Beneficiaries' best interests at heart, is capable of casting a second, secret, vote in each elimination.

The Submissive
Completely under The Dominatrix's thrall. Has to vote for who she tells him to (through the Executor) for the first three days, and can't reveal his role in thread. If those three days pass and/or he outlives the Dominatrix, becomes a regular Beneficiary... or maybe more.

The (regular) Beneficiaries
With no special power, they have to rely solely on their wit, instinct and on each other to survive and find the Killers.

The Gold Diggers

"Why split the money with all these people when we could keep it all for ourselves?" Any two of the above could be the Gold Diggers, a pair of players who aren't keen on sharing Charles' fortune with anybody else. Thick as thieves, if one gets killed or eliminated, the other will go down too, and if both make it to the finale, they will be the ones to win the game.

The Executor

In charge of both Charles' fortune and overseeing the game. Will not get directly involved... as long as nothing strays off course.

RULES
The game cycles between days and nights. Each night, starting at 10 PM BST, the Killers will chose someone to kill. Each day starts at 10 AM BST with the death of the Killers' target. Through the day, everyone will vote on who they want to eliminate, with the aim being to eliminate the Killers before they manage to kill all Beneficiaries, and after the day's elimination at 10 PM BST another night will start, and so on. If a vote ends on a tie, no-one gets eliminated. If the Beneficiaries manage to eliminate all Killers, the Beneficiaries win, otherwise, the Killers win. And if both Gold Diggers make it to the finale, they win instead. Players are free to form alliances and discuss their strategy through PMs, however, the moment someone is killed or eliminated, they aren't allowed to contact living players anymore. Dead players are free to continue posting in the thread, but make sure you don't try to influence the game in any way if you're dead. Screenshotting PMs is also not allowed. I know from experience this game might seem confusing at first glance, but if you have any questions on how it works, please ask, and believe me, it starts making a lot more sense once it actually starts.
