Smelling nice

Looking for a new fragrance rec. My absolute faves are Bleu de Chanel and YSL L’Homme. Love fresh but woodsy and slightly musky fragrances that last long. Especially love anything with amber notes. Any ideas?

Dior Homme Intense is fantastic. Very amber / woodsy. (I'm not a fragrance expert but to my unexperienced nose, that's what it smells like). It's been my go-to fragrance for years. Delish.

I've gone through many phases in my fragrance collecting eras where I've switched between high-end brands, smaller niche brands, and even oils. Although I've realized I generally gravitate towards spicier scents.

I’ve got Lush’s Furze and Turmeric Latte fragrances and they’re the most I’ve ever used any kind of aftershave or perfume ever. The former does have to settle but the latter is divine.

I’ve just been looking for reviews for this and am now tempted. Angel by Mugler has always been my go-to but looking for something less sweet.

I can really highly recommend it. At least try it on or try to get a tester if you're not 100% sure. But I'm sure you'll love it!

I just got myself Elie Saab’a Girl of Now and I already feel so FEMME.

Prada L’Homme Absolu and Viktor & Rolf’s Spicebomb were my go tos for a long time, but I’ve ran out of both and had to break open my Inverse stash.

Does anyone have recommendations based off those?

The summer just gone, I had been wearing some new fragrances. I really really recommend Mason Crivelli's Hibiscus Majahad. There's nothing quite like it. A few nice other fragrances are Xerjoff's Erba Pura and Bond No.9's New York Nights.

It's cooler seasons now in Australia so I've been trying more gourmand fragrances, rather than spicy/ouds. I'm in love with Giardini di Toscana's Bianco Latte. It's a beautiful creamy lactonic, vanilla with a caramel/praline dry down. I've reunited with my old bottle of Dior's Fève Délicieuse and loving that.

I've also started to become very acquainted with some local fragrance houses in Sydney with some who specialised in dupes and higher concentrations of designer/niche fragrances. I can't recommend them enough. I'd rather spend $45 for something 90% similar and longer lasting rather than paying $600 that lasts for one hour (looking at you Tom Ford). I really want to try Target (USA)'s Fine'ry's Not Another Cherry but shipping is a KILLER.

Ooh do Tom Ford fragrances not last long? I’ve had my eye on the purple or black bottled one, gorgeous smell but bloody pricey.

Depends on the Tom Ford!

“Black or purple” I’m guessing refers to Black Orchid and Velvet Orchid, both of which are exceptionally long-lasting in my experience.

The Private Blend line is more hit-or-miss in the longevity department. Almost all the blue bottles (Neroli Portofino, Mandarino Di Amalfi, etc.) are light, citrus-focused scents that don’t have much staying power. Soleil Blanc is also short-lived. But the heavier/richer scents that are more similar to Black Orchid are all appropriately long-wearing, in my opinion.

Also, I finally caved and bought my first Marly. Easily the most expensive scent I ever own. Not Delina but Valaya because I want to smell like a rich old French lady sometimes!

Versace Eros is my go to nowadays if I'm on a night out.

I've tried both YSL Y and Chanel Bleu (and I do love them), but I never really get compliments on them compared to Eros.

I'd love to say I don't wear scents looking for approval from others but I totally do dddd

Yes it’s the first two which I’m now torn between. Dior Sport is what I’m currently wearing; I was going to change to Dior Intense but it reminds me of another slightly lavendery smell I wore a few years back.

I tried both these Tom Fords on and I could still smell them slightly on my clothes that next day.

For the gaybees who want something different, gourmand and LUXE, Marly's Althair is IT. I was roomies with this straight boy and whenever he had it on it was so delicious.

It doesn't give off the cologne fuckboi vibes. It's the scent of a man that I wanna hug, devour and CONSUME. nn
