Song Choices - Week 2

One of the papers claimed the girls were doing You Really Got Me during the week. If so, the boys and girls should really be the other way around, Simon.

Well,  the girls said this during the week on the X Factor website:

The four-piece also teased that their song for this week's Musical Heroes week would be "more fun" and allow them to act like "silly girls".

So I think You Really Got Me doesn't fit that description. Let's hope it is the other way around.

Well, last week it was reported they were doing Viva La Vida early on during the week, so that's a distinct possibility. Wouldn't put it past Simon though. (And really, anything would be more fun that last week's performance).

By the way, poor Mary had 4 song changes this week? Surely that's going to affect her?

Every Kelly Clarkson song sounds exactly the same. I think they could do it well, but she's hardly a Musical Hero, let alone for them.

No. Although a one or two at the most might sound similar.

Sure, she hasn't been around long enough to be considered a musical hero, but ALL acts who enter these types of competition probably wish to emulate her success. She was the person who gave these shows credibility...and I will also bet money on the notion that no act to ever come out of these shows will ever sell as many units of an album as Clarkson did with Breakaway.

Do they actually get to choose songs from their own, genuine musical heroes, no limit, or is there a list of supposed heroes that they have to choose from?

I'm just curious as to what would happen if somebody went on it and said "Well, actually, my musical heroes are Slipknot at their loudest and I want to sing one of their really heavy tracks." for example.

Also, I wish TreyC wasn't doing Purple Rain, it was hideous when Danyl did it last year because Ruth's version was so good. They should leave it alone!

"Feeling Good" is one of my favorite songs of all time, for reals, but people know that Nina SImone has recorded other songs, right?

That's exactly what I was thinking, surely everyone on these type of shows wants to go on to win and become as big as Kelly? If I could sing and was on the X Factor she'd be my Musical Hero.

I like to imagine Rebecca's musical hero was actually Muse.

Fail to see how the likes of Duke Sauce, Kelly Clarkson or Bruno Mars are musical heroes. Once again judges have dodged them theme.

I don't understand how Kelly Clarkson isn't a musical hero. She was the first American Idol, the first to have sucess across the pond and has been around a very long time. 4 Albums infact.

Bruno Mars, now that one is a joke. Duck Sauce, i think the mention of Judy Garland, the idea behind it is that Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland are their musical heros?

Also, the song is a pretty heavy sample of Boney M, who also sung Sunny. So it makes sense in a very twisted way.

I don't think people doubt Kelly's credability, they doubt whether or not she's a hero of a bunch of teenage boys.

On One Direction they were one big mess this week, Liam's not a very good lead vocal.
