#soon! Part Un - The 60s-00s Girl Band Debut Breakthrough Rate

TEA UPDATE

-We have no more ties with the next lots of votes coming in (thank goodness that decimal allowance for the rate ensured I didn't have to go and manually count how many 10s etc songs got to try and break ties)

-The entry I thought would do well has finally broken into the top 40 - could that act be experiencing a slow build to the top?

-An era one would have assumed would struggle has a few entries in the top 25!

- @Mina, @DJHazey, @iheartpoptarts & @Petty Mayonnaise - some of your faves actually really need your help!

Agggghhhh I forgot about this!

Just focusing on finishing up my own rate for the next few days, then I'm all yours! (I've probably got about half the list done, will write commentary when it's all scored.)

Yes please, since we agree on a few things (Sinead & Johnny especially), I'd love you to have your say here! :)

Finally starting to score after giving the playlists a few run throughs. I'm stanning the 60s HARD right now. Was really disappointed by the Bananarama song since they're often referenced with La Roux but maybe other tracks by them would be worth checking out.

Probably because the song isn't a Bananarama song. It's a Fun Boy Three song and isn't really representative of their stuff.

I did my rating following this order: 60s, 2000s, 70s, 90s.

Now only 80s left to listen (the ones I don't know yet, of course) and then I'll submit!

So the 60s are completed -- 6.9 - 10x2 - 4x2

What I noticed most is how the debut is often towered over by other songs later in their careers. I'm not complaining by any means, because I understand what the rate was and I'm sure other people will be speaking to this for their favs too. Sometime down the road, somebody HAS to do some kind of 60s-only girl groups rate with a bunch of hit songs and I'll be stanning for my life.

My Dad's radio played nothing but the 60s when I was young so all of the hits are ingrained in my brain forever and the bubblegum pop style of a lot of the music really helped formed why I like modern versions of this kind of pop.

I'd definitely vote in that and be a back-up host even if you'd like to pair up for a rate in the future!

I'll iterate over this and write some commentary, but right now the 60s have the highest average from me by far. Whoever was scared that those classics would lose over 90s and 00s childhood bops - I don't think you have to worry.
Yes, although I grew up along the 90s and the music from the 00s is super familiar - there is no denying the greatness of the other lists - especially the 60s!
