#soon! Part Un - The 60s-00s Girl Band Debut Breakthrough Rate

I think one interesting thing here is seeing how the various groups start having more of an identity and individual sound as the decades pass. Any of the 60s groups could have released any of the 60s songs, but the same definitely isn't true for the later decades.
I wonder if it just feels that way because we know the personality and image of the later girl groups a lot better. The Pussycat Dolls and Danity Kane would seem at first glance to be interchangeable, for example, and you'd need to know the groups fairly well to understand why they aren't.

Hm, not quite the elimination I was expecting. Not too fussed, though. I gave it a 7.something, decent 90's R&B tune, but there's better stuff in the same lane in this rate. (Also, my rating should make it apparent that I wasn't listening to the lyrics very closely...)

When even I can't give a '90s R&B track more than a 6, you know there's something seriously wrong. It's very by-the-numbers Jermaine Dupri.

How is this their only platinum single?!

I'm not sure. For example The Shangri Las or The Dixie Cups wouldn't be doing anything The Supremes released and vice-versa.

I think that may be part of it, though it's also due to how back then girl groups were expected to have a certain sound and look but over the years they started having to stand out to be successful.

I agree about Danity Kane and PCD but then again I'm pretty sure PCD were an "inspiration" when coming up with DK in that show they originate from. DK even opened for PCD in a tour later and everything.

Oh one zero down nine to go!

But in my defense I also have ten 10s + my 11.

What is making nervous is that I know that I gave low points to some forum's favourites ... Hmm how do I vanish into thin air? How can I arm myself against tantrums and dangerous threats?

@Mina Can you borrow me something like that?

This unexpected rate villainy from @Filippa, of all people.

But you know I have this dislike of these artificial bands?

You know when I still tried to be cool, it was very uncool to like any of these bands. Gimme a good rock-band or maybe even better a good jazz-band that's how you got a boy to be impressed ... And I have to admit although being cool isn't what I am aiming for today (all lost to time) I'm still not keen on these bands ...

I’m scared for my nineties faves now...

Yes I think you should be.
But be aware that I scored the nineties songs with an average of 5.9 highest. It's the noughties that suffer the most ...

But my over-all average is higher than 5, so it's not as bad as it seems now.

My ballot is really telling from my heart. I'm completely in love with half of the songs here and strongly dislike or am very uninterested in the other half ...
