I wonder if it just feels that way because we know the personality and image of the later girl groups a lot better. The Pussycat Dolls and Danity Kane would seem at first glance to be interchangeable, for example, and you'd need to know the groups fairly well to understand why they aren't.I think one interesting thing here is seeing how the various groups start having more of an identity and individual sound as the decades pass. Any of the 60s groups could have released any of the 60s songs, but the same definitely isn't true for the later decades.
When even I can't give a '90s R&B track more than a 6, you know there's something seriously wrong. It's very by-the-numbers Jermaine Dupri.Hm, not quite the elimination I was expecting. Not too fussed, though. I gave it a 7.something, decent 90's R&B tune, but there's better stuff in the same lane in this rate. (Also, I clearly wasn't listening to the lyrics...)

I'm not sure. For example The Shangri Las or The Dixie Cups wouldn't be doing anything The Supremes released and vice-versa.
This unexpected rate villainy from @Filippa, of all people.
I’m scared for my nineties faves now...
As long as they don't make me cry as much as that damn movie did....
