Oh i agree! I’m pretty sure her singles will never chart anymore. She just needs exposure to get the word out about a new album coming next year. All promo is for album sales at the end… and hopefully tickets for her tour will sell well too. There are next to no TV spots for artists these days, and Sophie isn't going to be top of the list for those that do exist. Strictly was the only one she was ever likely to get due to her history with it.
I think we need to temper expectations for this. She is not going to get a hit with any song, the album will likely chart in the top 10 and then drop like a stone the next week. But she will still be able to sell tickets and keep her name out there.
YES!!! That's going to be an absolute must-watch!Sophie just announced on Scott Mills she is doing the NYE show for BBC1.
Unironically a banger of a song. If it weren't for the rap bit, I'd still have it on repeat.'Fuck With You' with Bob Sinclar
Glad this came true. I had such a good feeling about thisI was thinking that Sophie would be a good choice for the BBC 1 NYE show. A mix of Kitchen Disco covers and her own hits would make a good party show, plus she has the BBC connection with her show on Radio 2. Fingers crossed it will happen one year. Would be good timing to sell the album and tour tickets if it was this year, and a good way of rounding off the year after the surprising turn of events from January. Maybe wishing thinking though
and also 'Love Is The Law'.The BBC said the show would see Ellis-Bextor perform a selection of her hits, including her latest hit Freedom Of The Night, as well as some "surprise numbers" featuring "all-star guests".
'Fuck With You' with Bob Sinclar, 'I Got The Wherewithal' with theaudience and 'Circles' with Busface confirmed.
If she wasnt top of the list why has she got the new year's gig? Andddd strictly have 'class acts' Beverley Knight etc not huge commercially but revered for their talent. Also we dont know what the future holds... During Famila days she sang crystallized on it takes two and now 8 years later she's been promoted to live shows! I say watch this space. Nahhh I think we can expect a top 3 album on this occasion her profile has risen 10 fold. Freedom has had significantly more staying power. Whereas previously singles would 'tank' v quickly. She stayed in the top 20 on iTunes for weeks which might not count for much but is indicative of other more relevant charts. She's basically a legend and folk are waking up to this! Yay X to summarise no one knows what's around the corner the surprises keep coming! There are next to no TV spots for artists these days, and Sophie isn't going to be top of the list for those that do exist. Strictly was the only one she was ever likely to get due to her history with it.
