Sophie Ellis-Bextor - "Freedom of the Night" + The Invisible Line (TBD)

If she wasnt top of the list why has she got the new year's gig? Andddd strictly have 'class acts' Beverley Knight etc not huge commercially but revered for their talent. Also we dont know what the future holds... During Famila days she sang crystallized on it takes two and now 8 years later she's been promoted to live shows! I say watch this space. Nahhh I think we can expect a top 3 album on this occasion her profile has risen 10 fold. Freedom has had significantly more staying power. Whereas previously singles would 'tank' v quickly. She stayed in the top 20 on iTunes for weeks which might not count for much but is indicative of other more relevant charts. She's basically a legend and folk are waking up to this! Yay X to summarise no one knows what's around the corner the surprises keep coming!
My point proven exactly! She's doing New Years in America!!!! This is huge!!!!

This is so crazy but obviously good for her. But I'm still wondering.. Was Saltburn such an immense success over there? It's been over a year and it's seems like the hype surrounding Murder still hasn't died down.

Also this year might have been her most successful year ever, even more so than 2002? It also must have been incredibly stressful and tiring despite all the excitement & success.

Great evening at the NYE recording on Tuesday. There was a group of students from the Brits School who were positioned front right of stage. My friend and I managed centre front as knew Sophie would spend most of her time there - cameraman seated in front of us but we weren’t bothered about not being seen although we wore 2025 headbands so will probably be seen. Got our hands on the set list but were told not to post on socials but you can expect the usual tracks.

They got Sophie to re-record the first track as they felt the audience were more into it once the recording got going.

Her special guests were Jessie Ware who sung Yes Sir I Can Boogie, Jake Shears and Emily Roberts from Last Dinner Party who performed with Sophie on 2 Scissor Sisters tracks.

Nice that they’re pushing the single again. The remix is a nice addition to her catalogue, but it isn’t as great as some of the earlier ones we’ve had. Get the Freemasons on board.

I wonder if they’ll release a new single in January.

She’s done 110 gigs in 2024! What a rollercoaster of a year it has been for her. Wishing Sophie’s success continues into the next year. Really looking forward to the New Years performances. I may be watching it in the morning, my time.

Happy New Year everyone! Here’s wishing everyone a happy, healthy, prosperous and fun-filled 2025.
