Sophie Ellis-Bextor - "Freedom of the Night" + The Invisible Line (TBD)

I think she finds the lyrics a bit cringey
"This is easy for me. It’s a song called I Won’t Change You. If I’d had access to the backing track I would have sung it during the Kitchen Disco, but god knows what happened to my second album. I think Universal lost the masters because I have hardly any backing tracks from that record, which is really annoying.

"The lyrics in the second verse are really bad: ‘I used to change my style like I changed my mind / I tried to change a tyre but I'm not that way inclined / Tried to change my figure, my diet too / I'll still change my underwear if that's okay with you.’ They weren’t even holding lyrics; all I remember is that I’d just started going out with Richard, I was very distracted… I thought, I’ll do a song with comedy in it, but comedy is tricky, isn’t it? I feel bad because I think the chorus deserved a better verse, I don’t mind the chorus at all. The video is pretty cringey as well. That blonde hair!"

Actually, I've always loved the line 'I tried to change a tyre but I'm not that way inclined'.

Calling the video cringey, while it's one of her best! Just as solid storytelling as 'Murder On The Dancefloor' or 'Today The Sun's On Us'. 'Shoot From The Hip' will be forever the dark horse in her discography.

I think 'Young Blood' is also a keeper since it means so much to her. Plus 'Like A Prayer' for the next decade.

'Hana' will be(/has always been) forgotten, aside from maybe 'Breaking The Circle' now and then.

I think she’s been using Hearing In Colour as a segue. But she should cover more of Hana as well. Breaking The Circle is a fantastic song that should be a regular in her setlist. I would also include Beyond The Universe and Lost In The Sunshine.

To me Hana seems like it never happened, like a bad fever dream even I have forgotten about it until you mentioned it. Not saying it's a bad album but yeah..

WOW her New Years Eve performances were amazing! I was enraptured. SOOOOO annoying that some horrible rag newspapers are trying to click bate her down! She was flawless. And her presence is next level! She cannot win... It's boring now... I am annoyed with myself for even giving these articles brain space!

She's like a female Harry Styles. She was like a rock star! DREAMY and gorgeous. HANA just got eclipsed by the Murder resurgence. Doesn't matter though it was an adult album. Soph-isticated... I am pleased she got it in as part of the trio she committed to before the resurgence of murder. The graft she has put came through on NEW YEAR tooo a whole new audience of folk who were non the wiser. She is an amazing performer and has absolutely nailed her craft.

She doesn't give a fuck and that is what makes her so special. YAY!
