Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Hana

She was rather amazing in Amsterdam. She’s so likeable and her vocals are so warm and full. The live band does wonders for the set. The crowd fell in love with her.
I had no idea it would be so cover heavy but they all worked great.

Been a fan for 21 years, just saw her live for the very first time in Amsterdam. Mixed Up World was lovely in the acoustic version and Hypnotized worked a treat when she had everyone join in with the choreography. Sweet moment of continuing applause happened. She seems adamant to tour Europe more often, truly hope she will!

I was twice blessed with the spinning wheel giving us 'Bittersweet' and 'Dancing Queen'. I hope she noticed that 'Bittersweet' really is a popular fan-favourite. It should always be on the setlist.

Maybe she did because it was part of the setlist in Amsterdam last night!

I was another one of the hunties there and I had a lovely evening. I didn't know she brought her husband with her on tour. Very cute.

I think this was the setlist last night:

01. Take Me Home
02. Wild Forever
03. Breaking the Circle
04. Ain't Nobody (wheel)
05. Hypnotized
06. Mixed Up World
07. Young Blood
08. Love is a Camera interlude
09. Music Gets the Best of Me (wheel, but not really)
10. Get Over You
11. Lady (Hear Me Tonight)/Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)/Sing It Back
12. Crying at the Discotheque
13. Like a Prayer
14. Heartbreak Make Me a Dancer
15. Murder on the Dancefloor

encore:
16. Bittersweet
17. Favorite Things

She said she would do some songs of her new album but she ended up only doing the single. Also the spinning wheel gave us '13 Little Dolls' but after what she thought was a lukewarm reaction from the crowd she changed it to 'Music Gets the Best of Me' nn. (She really does have our best interest at heart).

Surprisingly the cover medley followed by 'Crying at the Discotheque' went off. The crowd seemed to be really into that (myself included).

Which one of you was that crazy guy that danced to every song like it was the last thing he'd ever do nn, even during the lackluster supporting act.

That's my friend! Bumped into him at the merch table. I don't think he's on PopJustice.
She was rather amazing in Amsterdam.
Highlight: when she took a sip of water and said "let's hear it for hydration!"

Since it's still the Kitchen Disco, I lowered my expectations and anticipated many covers. Also, on paper, the medley is a bit overdone. But! In reality, it all worked so well and the show was amazing. It felt like she was genuinely surprised and touched by the response of the audience. So I hope she doesn't ever underestimate her own songs.

He/Him
I mean I guess, but when you have six albums worth of content, doing more than one or two covers a show feels like a bit of waste.

I only just checked out the original Love Is You and never knew that was where Groovejet's sample was from.
Interesting choice of Sophie to cover that (without the sample being clearly in it)

There's a press shot that was sent out to careint.uk which looks like it's from the Hana shoot. I hope one of us here can find the full picture. I'm loving her hair in this picture and the one with the telephone. What a gorgeous creature she is!

Thanks guys! I'm sure it will pop up somewhere. She's wearing a short frock - I've seen that somewhere in really low quality!

On an unrelated note, Spotify has been following Breaking The Circle with Hypnotized, Crying At The Discotheque, Shining Star and Deep In Vogue. I'm so accustomed to listening to them in this order now that it's going to be weird to hear other songs follow Breaking The Circle on the album.

Dddd why does she always have us piecing together photoshoots like this?? I'm still haunted by the quality and cropping of some of the shots we got from the Trip shoot. Speaking of, I tried looking up a Sophie fan gallery but came up empty - do we not have a good one anymore?

Shining Star completely bypassed me. She's cute.
