Spice Girls

Victoria being a gung-ho Spice Girl for once could actually get the Spice flowing again.

Spice Girls were 50% brilliant marketing, and Victoria has dedicated the last two decades of her life to marketing. Even her short solo career had a cohesive image with some Spicy humor in a way the others didn’t. Vicky would never have done the Coinmaster ad, and she’d be right to refuse!

Grant us the Spice we’ve been denied, Mother!

How did I totally miss the leak of Man on the Mountain? What Passion should have been! I'm surprised how much I like it. A great uplifting feel, with a cohesiveness that Passion didn't have (Obvs it had the legend Love Never Loved Me). I expected to casually skip but not skipped one. Shame it's not on streaming.

I have a copy of Man On The Mountain, but have never ventured past the 5th track, (Beautiful Life is gorgeous mind you) i guess i’m just not fond of the sound she was going for on this album, i don’t know myself the circumstances surrounding it being shelved, which for me just proves how much interest i lost in her ability to make great pop music, she was by far my favourite pop star in my teenage years, everything that was drip fed to us after Passion has just been hugely disappointing for me, she truly had a good ear for pop music once upon a time, so i often wonder what happened.

Can’t say i’ve been overly thrilled about her political affiliations too. But each to their own, i’m always wanting to root for her they way i did back in the day, but i just find myself distancing myself further from her more and more.

Melanie C on the other had just continues to get better and better for me, she was always destined to be the real Star of the group and i for one am so glad she’s kept on pushing ahead despite all the setbacks she has suffered as a soloist, its great to see her finally get the dues and respect she has always deserved.

Interesting point, as I actually really like the Mumford-and-Sons-Lite style tracks, unlike Passion where I forced myself to listen to it and then stopped quite quick (my fave is still Scream...). This I would listen to again.

I do agree about her being a great pop star and the music that entailed. I think she lost that love of making a pop banger and tried to move more MOR...which is sad but fair. For me Passion failed but Man on a Mountain succeeded in that attempt.

Passion is a strange one for me, while i enjoy the majority of the album, the bad moments really spoil it overall, i guess this topic has been discussed many times, but i really would have loved to have heard the album in its original form, and would kill for to hear or have Set Me Off & 100% Pure Love in high quality.

I feel like Geri is someone who enjoyed the creative process a lot but got disenchanted with the industry once the business side of it turned on her. But I think the current landscape is nicer to semi-independent artists than in the 00's and 2010's and she would enjoy releasing a few singles and do a festival tour.

Then again, if she isn't massively interested on continue performing with the group when she has guaranteed success I doubt she would have a go at it on her own.
