Spice Girls

As much as I don’t want to, I think we all need to lower our expectations when it comes to additional material on #Forever25.

I find it hard to believe that a group that has given us so little in terms of b-sides and unreleased material on their previous vinyl releases would suddenly give us everything and more.

Although I would love HQ versions of ‘Woman’, ‘A Day in Your Life’, ‘Pain Proof’, ‘If It’s Lovin’ on Your Mind’ and many more, I feel we will get one of these, a handful of remixes and one alternative mix (probably ‘Right Back at Ya!’).
It still baffles me how lackluster the the Spiceworld 25 reissue was. Sourcing live audio from Youtube is just plain lazy. At least just put out the live in concert audio that BBC did for the Spiceworld tour.

I do wonder what they'll do for Forever 25 (if anything), because it won't warrant the fanfare that Spice 25 and Spiceworld 25 got, nor did Spice 25 inspire them to go bigger & better for Spiceworld 25 which was clearly done on a shoe-string, though the design was a lot better. The fact they've teased Woman in an official capacity and Biff said "there's a plan" would suggest they've got at least something up their sleeve.

Spice and Spiceworld 25 were quite different beasts in that they had little to offer in the way of unreleased material, but had iconic imagery to rely on to pump out endless t-shirt ranges which probably brought in more revenue than the releases themselves, whereas Forever doesn't have that so it would have to be handled differently.

What Forever does have is abundant unreleased material which is of similar quality (if not better) than the album itself which may interest the casual listener who probably wouldn't be too bothered about the semantics of which line-up it was. I think a deluxe edition, handled properly, collecting all of the unreleased tracks we've heard, maybe with some individual picture discs, would do at least better than Spiceworld 25 which put even hardcore fans off.

I know all we'll get is a "HOLLER HOLLER COME ON!" hoodie.

So was that Woman song just a chorus? Weird that the vinyl would just feature the chorus and not a whole song but then I don't know what the purpose of that vinyl was.
Agree I assumed it'd be the entire song without an instrumental.

Its absolutely pointless in that form and just reignites the obsession many have for the full thing. You couldn't make it up.

The vinyl is like the ultimate troll after all of these years, I see the guy who listed it on eBay bought it for £1000 from someone on Discogs and I can only imagine his face when he got the exclusive first play of "Woman Vocal".... no wonder he was trying to make a quick buck.

To have these random stems on a CD or a cassette would be weird enough, but a vinyl is all the more strange.

The "elite" Spice Girls fans are the worst in all music, they will purposefully shoot prices up and pay that amount just to stop other fans getting items. It's nothing to do with loyalty to the girls it's a hierarchy thing, a belief they are superior than others.

and don't get me started on the girls themselves. I adore them, but they truly don't give a shit, only care about the money and have no fucking clue. The rumours of an unreleased collection coming in November is such a load of bollocks there is nothing in the pipeline.

I've never understood fans who hoard unreleased things, isn't there a selection of fans who also have the legitimate professionally filmed footage of the Greatest Hits tour too? I remember reading this on DenDen years ago so it might not be legit ddd

I have no doubt some fans probably have Woman too. After C U Next Tuesday leaked and it was a steaming pile of shit though, I do wonder if Woman loves up to the hype. It's probably... not even that good nn.

Victoria sounds so good on the Go, Go, Go clip. That chorus has been stuck in my head.
Same, I think it definitely had potential from what we've heard. I feel like it was only abandoned before of the team they wrote it with, and wanted to distance themselves from the Old Guard.

What I find frustrating is if they put all the Forever unreleased material on iTunes tomorrow, it would outsell both the Spice and Spiceworld 25th Anniverary editions immediately, but we just know they'd never approve it.

It's always infuriated me that Mel said they didn't add more unreleased material because it wasn't good enough. If you've been a fan for 25 years, the wants of the fans are more important than the wants of the artist. It's for us, not them. The artist put out their vision of the album 25 years ago, and we loved it and are still listening to it now, so deserve to form our own opinion of unreleased material. That's the reward we get for sticking around. Likely Stories was ditched and that was loads better than Feed Your Love, which is proof we should have been given the opportunity to hear the others.

Right it’s not like it’s 1997 and quality control is paramount. At this point why not put it out? Plus they worked with so few people it’s not like they need permission from anyone who wouldn’t give it. So frustrating.

I think most of their unreleased material remains unreleased for good reason. Sure, it would be great for us super fans to hear, but I doubt they'd want to bloat their Spotify page with a bunch of unfinished demos when 99% of listeners are just looking for the hits.

The Spice25 & Spiceworld25 deluxe CD's would have been the perfect opportunity for them to chuck out some rare tracks for the fans, but that would have required effort beyond ripping audio off YouTube I guess. Fingers crossed Forever does get a 25 treatment, but after the mess that was Spiceworld25 – and a three year gap – I'm not really holding my breath.

We do deserve to hear a studio version of W.O.M.A.N. after all of this time though. As cringey as some of the lyrics are (~we're wearing g-strings, taking meetings, putting music to beats~) the hook is undeniably classic Spice. It's a shame they didn't resurrect and revamp it for their '07 reunion as I do think it would've worked a lot better than Headlines or Voodoo.

He/Him
They did not even include all the officially released b-sides on the first two 25 editions so I'm not holding out hope for anything on an eventual Forever25. I would be shocked if it include anything more than "Woman" Live At Earls Court and the "Right Back At Ya" Pop Version.

It's ridiculous to think that the 25 campaigns didn't feature obvious things like rereleases of 1 Hour Of Girl Power or the full Istanbul show. They easily could have sold the rights to a streaming service or done a limited run DVD release that was sold exclusively through their webstore. They would have sold out easily.

I would be happy with a HQ version of 'Woman' and the demo version of 'Right Back At Ya!' being released officially.
