Spider-Man (including Madame Web, Kraven, Venom, Spider-Verse)

I actually did really enjoy this in a campy what were they thinking way but at the same time I can't help but feel like Dakota Johnson does a genuinely good job underneath it all.

Some of the re recorded audio though... Yikes! There are moments where the camera is panning to another character so you can't tell and then the next second your back to the character speaking and the lips do not line up with what they're saying, it's a mess!

I just saw this and oh it was bad. The storyline is non-existent and not enough of it was bad in a way that you could laugh, though some of it was for sure.
In regards to Madame Web, the only part of the promotion that surprises me is how they have not hyped the fact that it features multiple Spider-Women?! Like, this is a huge plot point and could really draw in a lot of attention.

The brief glimpse of them as spiderwomen in the trailer is like… pretty much all you see of them in the suits, they don’t even become superhero’s in this film which is where the film flops the most in my opinion.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the Showgirls or Catwoman I was hoping for. I wouldn’t describe it as camp, sadly.

I was mildly entertained. It’s stupid, and doesn’t know what it wants to be, but there’s something mildly likeable going on.

Better than at least 4 of the superhero films I seen last year though, so to me the reception is a bit hyperbolic.

I had to see this for myself because I knew after The Marvels that everyone was hating. I have to admit, I was very very wrong.

This was one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen. It felt so dated, had every cliche in the book, was slow and Dakota Fanning wasn’t great. I also don’t understand why the villain was wearing suits but barefoot for the entire movie. What was that about?! And the dubbing on his dialogue.

I truly don’t know how this film got greenlit and released in such a state. I hope they didn’t waste too much money on it.

That might be because she wasn't in the movie.

Yeah that's how I would describe it myself. Definitely a very bad movie, but I didn't come out of the cinema hating it.

The movie has a few bizarre choices, like why do they make a big deal out of the part where she can't hear the name of Emma Robert's character but then don't make any further reference? Maybe they were trying to treat it as an easter egg when you realize who the baby is but it felt more like a plot hole to me.

Also, the movie starts promising an origin story to the spider girls and that never happens? I kept waiting for a moment where Cassie or the villain was going to inject them with the venom but we never got there.

And the worst for me...the characterization at the end looked pretty on point and interesting? I wish we had been watching the movie that starts when this one ends. More like a teaser for things to come, it felt like we had been wasting 2 hours when they were capable of something much more interesting.

The way nearly every single line of the villain has been dubbed/ADR'd? Like I'm not kidding, nearly every single line he says has very clearly been swapped out weeks/months after they filmed, his mouth matches what he's saying maybe 3 times? I assume it's because most of his original lines related to the Baby Peter/Terminator plot so they didn't make sense anymore, but still... it's really bad.

Just got back from 'Madame Web'.

It definitely wasn't the campy mess I was hoping for, aside from maybe the things she does with the ambulance and her abandoning the girls a couple of times. I actually think Dakota Johnson was a likeable lead character.

It's amazing.
.. how there's no story at all.
- Ezekiel in and out of the suit. Why's he wearing no shoes? Did the spider made him age slower? What was he up to all these years? How long has he been having this vision and how can he pay that apartment?
- Cassie goes to Peru and we get the exact same scenes we saw at the start of the movie. There's no clear development or narrative thread in regards to her mother.

I didn't mind there being no (real) link to other Spider-Man or MCU movies. The character of Madame Web does have some potential, given her unusual powerset and state of being. It's a shame the movie didn't capture those aspects fully.

Saw this on Thursday and honestly enjoyed it. I have no idea why the villain's lines were all re-dubbed, it was very distracting!

My main gripe is that we didn't get to see the Spider Women being Spider Women, other than in a couple of visions. It's the thing I was looking forward to most.

I've not seen the whole thing but just skipped through it. Honestly, the number of scenes that have some of the worst acting I have ever seen in any major blockbuster. This is absolutely shockingly awful.

As for the actual story, it's laughably bad and makes zero sense in so many places.

This was bad but not actively terrible enough to be camp. The baby shower scene and a few of the moments with just the core 4 girls actually show real comedic potential but it feels they never committed to that tone and went with...this instead

From what I’ve gathered, they literally changed the plot of the film mid-shooting, so I assume either the actor couldn’t come back at that time or Sony didn’t want to spend the money re-shooting massive chunks of film.

Did Dakota sign up for this thinking it was a big Marvel Universe movie? She should sue whoever made this happen.
