Spider-Man (including Madame Web, Kraven, Venom, Spider-Verse)

Since I've almost run out of superhero films to watch I finally sat through both Madame Web and Morbius this week.

Madame Web really was just so so so terrible. I can't believe there are people in this thread defending this film. Dakota's "acting" alone just constantly takes you out of the film. It was giving:

She found out the film wouldn't be part of the MCU and immediately stopped giving a single fuck. She is just so miscast in this.

There were just too many things wrong with it I'm not even going to bother naming them all. Honorable mentions though were the villain single-handedly getting killed by the Pepsi sign, the true hero of this film and Toxic apparently being a hit on the radio in 2003 lol.

Morbius was not as unintentionally funny to me but just utterly pointless with no substance. A perfect example of a studio wanting to make a film out of a Spider-Man villain without Spider-Man but not having anything substantial to fill it with. The fight scenes, the villain, it was giving Venom copypasta without the fun. The way it just...ended after the final fight says it all.

God help us all when Kraven is released.

As nonsensical as the (barely there) story was, I had no problems with Dakota's acting. For 3/4 of the movie she played a loner and a reluctant hero. Her biggest idea was: let's drop the girls in nature. She just didn't have a clue what she was doing. After she returned from Peru, she had more of an understanding of herself and she was more pro-active and resourceful (like the ambulance/electrocution scene).

Oh I'd love to be seeing what's going on at Sony HQ these last few weeks. This seems to be an absolute disaster. Unbelievable that the film was originally meant to have been already released.

It was never supposed to be released on that original date they had after things got going on the second film.

'Venom: The Last Dance' was not worth it. At least the first two movies had a certain messy early 00s superhero movie vibe. And how dare they erase Anne Weying? She's not even mentioned.

The little references to the Multiverse and the teasing of a boring generic villain feel so tired and unexcited. I don't think it'll lead to anywhere.

Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple and Stephen Graham are all wasted.

There's a nice scene with Mrs. Chen though.

I had way more fun with 'Madame Web'.

Somehow Madame Web is the second best superhero movie released this year (with only Kraven to go!) - iconic.

Why did I actually think Venom 3 was actually passably okay compared to the other 2?

(I was asleep a lot during the first half)

I just saw Kraven The Hunter. I can't recommend it, except for the shirtless scenes.

The biggest crime is having Calypso in the movie and giving her nothing to do.

It's such a shame, because I think there is some potential with Kraven and Chameleon. But we'll probably never going to see the characters portrayed by these actors ever again. Same goes for Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb.

It's been a strange year for comicbook movies.

My ranking of the ones I've seen:
1. Madame Web
2. Deadpool & Wolverine
3. Joker 2
4. The Crow
5. Kraven The Hunter
6. Venom 3

I enjoyed Deadpool & Wolverine but heard Madame Web was terrible. Is it actually worth checking out?

Dakota said she was contractually obligated for one more movie so she may pop up in a Spider Man movie or even one of the Avengers...

Sony pushing out 2 flops and ending their one moderately successful franchise in a year where DC and Marvel released one film each - they really should just sell the rights.
