Spider-Man (including Madame Web, Kraven, Venom, Spider-Verse)

OK well I'm going to check out Madam Web this afternoon. Based on these high recommendations.

Technically, Deadpool & Wolverine and Joker 2 are probably better, but I had way more fun with Madame Web and it's definitely more memorable than the former two.

There isn't and never will be a hero as unique as Cassandra (including the performance by Johnson). I never get

I actively root for Aaron Taylor Johnson because he is such a talent, but I'm not shocked at the reaction to Kraven. The issue is that these characters sort of need Spider-Man in them to anchor them and allow development. I am still eager to see this because Kraven is actually one of my favourite Spidey rogues.

Madame Web is the perfect movie to watch on the plane when you are bored out of your mind and with nothing else to do. It belongs to that category. I had fun with it!

Madame Web is to superhero movies what Vox Lux is to drama movies and Malignant to horror movies.

Yeah, he's pretty solid as Kraven and embodied the character. Also, having seen 3 vastly different movies with Fred Hechinger (Thelma, Gladiator II and Kraven) this year, I think his star will keep rising.

Kraven having the worst opening for one of these non-Spidey Sony titles and the fourth worst opening for a Marvel title ever (after Punisher: War Zone, Howard the Duck, and The New Mutants) with $11,000,000.

Elektra now in 5th place. Vindication for the Little Garneristas.

Mid December feels such an odd time to release a movie like this? Do people really want a violent comic book movie at Christmas?
Although I doubt it’d far went better at other times of the year.

I think December is fine especially for counter programming. Nosferatu opens Christmas Day and I bet its average opening will be higher than Kraven. Most people did not want to see this schlock.

Choosing to do this was such a bad move for Aaron...Like, why? I guess money...Either way, people are already saying he can't be Bond now if this is the audience he pulls in. But seriously, is there any actor that would have managed to help this get a bigger box office? Literally nobody cares about Kraven.

I honestly just think he wanted to. He normally only does one movie a year so he can spend time at home with his children so just chooses projects he wants to do. 2024 is the first time since 2028 he's had more than one movie out in a year, and before that was 2012 (which was before he became a Dad)
His choices are always hard to pinpoint why he does them which I quite like.

he/him
I’m sure there are some examples of movies killing an actors chance of another movie but surely this is clear to anyone that the main problem is Sony pushing out mediocre - bad films.

I don’t even think the idea of pulling from villains to create more stories is a terrible idea but I think it would work better in an established universe, there has to be a payoff like Venom/Kraven having a chance to meet Spider-Man.

I actually think Madame Web would have worked better if that ‘leak’ was true/real with them working to save baby Peter Parker and putting him in the MCU.

Bit silly of them considering Daniel Craig was hardly a guaranteed box office bonanza when he was hired. They should be more worried that Aaron comes off oddly bland on screen despite oozing sex irl hehe
