Square Enix - FFXIV: Dawntrail

Head Case VR is infuriating. Not because Mindflyer is that hard, it’s because you have to kill him first. Sleep lasts for like 20 seconds so you have to constantly look out for those 2 adds that you either kill first or they self destruct. It’s so frustrating, I think I just might quit.
This was a total nightmare but you can cheat it by giving two people in your party Enfeeblement Rings so that they have Toad status for the entire fight, and then draw the Mindflayer away with Cloud or whoever you’re using and kill it separately. The other enemies won’t be able to use their self destruct attack on the toads which makes it really easy.

Oh wow that is actually funny. I considered maybe trying just with 2 people but I might try this, thanks! I was actually sooo close once with Cloud Tifa and Yuffie, Mindflyer had tiny bit of HP. But seriously, what an annoying challenge, whoever came up with it is an ass.

I actually managed to beat it without toads, I realised I wasn't aggressive enough with regular attacks with Yuffie so but still, crazy that a lot has to do with dumb luck.

I really wanted to get Red's weapon while I am still near Corel but I just don't get it. I keep scoring goals but I always end up tied. That one is also down to dumb luck and it has awful mechanics. Another frustrating mini-game that could have been fun.

Ddd I think the game just massively bugged and I’m not going to complain:
That Ying Yang boss where you only have Cait Sith, I was down to 1 HP and got attacked and somehow got both the notification that I’d fell unconscious and that Ying Yang was beaten at the same time. Not sure what happened but going to complain either as I find him pretty useless without the Moogle and then it takes ages to fill the ATB…

I am not looking forward to how much card playing I may have to do to platinum this game…
Fast forward one month and I’ve finished everything Queen’s Blood related dd, I had a blast with it.

Just did the Loveless mini game, that was so much fun. The ending song? Come through Aerith Dion!

Y'all are making me not want to return to it and I'm only like three hours in!

It's stunning and the combat is a ton of fun, but something I've realized in playing both Remake and Rebirth is that my least favorite trend of modern gaming are these cinematic segments of gameplay where your character is forced to slow down while you have to navigate an area with dialogue/story involved. There are zero stakes because it's never something you can actually 'fail' at and it diverts my focus from the plot points being relayed because I have to make Cloud crouch down on some scaffolding? It just completely wrecks my momentum and attention span nn. I'd prefer these moments were just traditional cutscenes. I'm curious if I'm alone in this?

I actually like to stop when somebody is talking about something, I hate when in games someone starts to talk in the middle of the combat for example so I understand what you mean. Its just hard to focus on two things at once, at least for me.

There really hasn’t been much of this in Rebirth, or at least it’s far less noticeable. My understanding for Remake is that they were necessary hidden load screens because of the PS4 limitations.

I recall the flashback sequence is one of the parts of the game that uses this the heaviest, so don't judge it too harshly on the first three hours. The original used this as loading screens in disguise, and that's obviously not an issue with Rebirth.

The first game was also extremely linear to begin with, which is also not an issue here once you get out into the world.
