Square Enix

I think Quadratum could be a prologue world, just like Destiny Islands or Twilight Town. Based on what we got, the look and feel of the ending of that teaser with Donald, Goofy (and Hades?) is more fantastical like previous games.

Kingdom Hearts 4 looks good, but I get the impression the whole game is going to take place in that realistic city (as in, no Disney worlds), and I really hope that I'm wrong.

I don't think Disney would allow a game in the main series with no Disney worlds. A world/planet based on Star Wars I could see happening. It has more iconic and unique settings than Marvel. I'm not sure if a Marvel world (aside from Big Hero 6) would fit. Would it be based on the comics or movies? I could see some heroes appear as summons or something. 'Guardians of the Galaxy' would fit with the gummy ship missions, even though I'm not a Guardians fan.

I hope we get FF characters or even some worlds for a change. I hate that response during 3 how Sora has his own story, he doesn't need FF characters anymore. Eh, the core of the game was the fact that it blended FF and Disney so FF should be there. It would be fun if Sora can visit Esthar, Zanarkand or Rabanastre for example, not everything has to be about Disney.

In any case, the trailer reminds me a lot of Versus 13 even in the battle, how Sora warped and walked/glided on buildings. I am excited for all this, I just need to catch up what happened after KH3, I don't know who that girl is haha! I can't believe we have KH 4 and not KH3.5 and 3.8 before that.

It's infuriating that Scala is getting the mobile treatment. What a cool looking place that I wish we could explore full of life.

Sure, okay, yes, I'm certain there will be more because it's Tetsuya Nomura and we already knew about Verum Rex last game but...I want something wild, not something Square Enix has given me in various shades through FFXV and FFVII Remake.

I don't know. The game taking place in a huge open world rather than a bunch of smaller, separate worlds, seems a lot more in line with how most big games are nowadays, and besides, plot-wise I'm not sure there being Disney worlds in this game would exactly make sense, since Quadratum is supposed to be a completely separate universe than the rest of the series. But of course they'll find a way to work them into the story if they want to.

Nn logic left the plot of Kingdom Hearts a long time ago. If they want Disney worlds in it, they'll find some way to make it work.

They stretched themselves way thin on the worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3, half of which were giving empty box syndrome so I'd be happy with one open world that incorporates Disney worlds as 'distortions' in some form (we would also hopefully be looking at them nixing the gummi ship for good as a result).

There's a lot of Pixar material rife for incorporation but after how weird Disney got with their properties in 3 the less involvement the better: I actually wouldn't mind Disney properties strictly being in the form of summons/D-links and potentially party members. I miss when Disney villains made up a large chunk of the boss fights.

We can only hope. There was no reason for the gummi ship section of 3 to be so robust. It is disgusting.

I thought it was the creative team of said films who got weird about how their properties were used? I specifically remember an interview hinting at the reason the Frozen world was bullshit was because the creative team of the film either withheld information or straight up vetoed things.

We'll have to wait and see, if they (dare to) change some of the core aspects in a main series game: no Disney worlds, no Goofy and Donald as party members,... .

Yeah, it made the Disney parts feel more important to the story and I love how they came together in Kingdom Hearts 1 in Hollow Bastion. I also loved Maleficent appearing in KH2 and saving the trio halfway through the game, although she didn't get to do a lot after that.

The story has been a mess for a while now, so I'm sure it'll be more of the same: light, dark, heart, soul, memory,... .

I never got round to completing Kingdom Hearts 2 and fell off the wagon after enjoying the first game quite a bit. I was put off by the story being spread out over multiple platforms and seeming incredibly convoluted.

I just watched the 20th anniversary announcement trailer and I’m not really sure whether this is going to push me to pick up any of the games again. Kingdom Hearts IV trailer gave me Final Fantasy XV but I’m kinda tempted with it being a new arc that might not require playing all the previous games.

As convoluted as the overarching narrative might be, I do think some parts of the Kingdom Hearts story are genuinely great. I especially love the Roxas/Axel/Xion/Twilight Town arc, I really cared for those characters and it was so satisfying seeing their story properly wrapped up in KH3. The other two trios (Sora/Riku/Kairi and Ventus/Terra/Aqua) have engaging stories too, and stuff like Organisation XIII was interesting. The main villains are the weakest point to me, it's hard to keep track of what exactly their motivations/objectives are, especially when you have various versions of the same characters and add stuff like time travel and a mobile game's worth of lore to the mix. Though I do think the story was actually fairly easy to follow up until Dream Drop Distance and X, but the wheels really started to fall off there. Still, KH3 mostly did a good job at wrapping up (most of) the storylines, and KH4 being something of a clean slate is probably a good thing.

I've only played KH1, Chain of Memories and KH2, but I try to keep track of this franchise out of nostalgic and sentimental reasons.

I think KH1 had the best atmosphere and I liked the platforming and puzzle solving (Deep Jungle for example, though I'm not sure if that's a popular opinion).

KH2 had the best gameplay mechanics (though Sora became quickly overpowered), the best prologue ("I guess my summer vacation is over"-feels), everything that happens in Hollow Bastion and some unique worlds (Space Paranoids, Port Royal, Timeless River).

Birth By Sleep demonstrated that the series thrives best in smaller scope. There are a lot of factors at play that have affected their projects but I think there's an argument to be made that Square Enix's biggest struggle has continued to be how to adapt to the evolving technology since the Playstation 3.

I hope the - relatively - short development period for Final Fantasy XVI is indicative of it portraying a somewhat smaller world in sheer size, but all the more richer in life and characters.

I didn’t realize the Chrono Cross Remaster was out already. Apparently the ramen rate is terrible? Anyone else tried it yet?

We haven't seen footage in years and it's no closer to a release date so this doesn't exactly fill me with hope.

This was posted yesterday and the link to the store is not available anymore. I am thinking somebody released this sooner than it was supposed to be announced considering the game isn't even out yet. News of FF Versus turning into 15 was also announced through fashion "mistake" when the company said they are making the clothes for FF15 before it was officially announced the game will be 15.
