I wouldn't be surprised if it is true, the rumors started again few days ago, saying that FF9 won't be huge like FF7. I agree with that, I don't think that would fit with FF9, the whole fairytale feel it has might get lost in the proccess.
And if its true, that hopefully means FF8 might have a remake in the future. That game should have FF7 treatment considering its graphics and more of a realistic setting/serious story. Same goes with FF6.
I don't want any other entries getting the VII remake treatment when it means at least 3-5 years between multiple installments.

Thats exactly what I fear. That change wouldn't make much sense though. Wasn't Aerith's death important for the plot as well? I mean, if Tifa dies, that would probably cause Cloud's breakdown but thats it.

Yeah exactly. Sephiroth does talk about fear right before that scene so I think that is mind trickery, Sephiroth inserting doubt. Even in that first trailer Cloud wonders if Tifa is an imposter.
If they kill Tifa though I will be very disappointed.
So much of Final Fantasy VII revolves around Sephiroth manipulating and gaslighting Cloud, and the player by extension. I don't think there's a whole lot to read into what Sephiroth is saying. They talked about Tifa and her surviving Sephiroth's attack in the first trailer too.

It looks incredible. I'm excited for Final Fantasy XVI too and I think it looks very impressive but this looks even better.
This is giving World Of Final Fantasy, which is not a bad thing. Still have to beat that game.
The biggest relief for me is that the game is over two PS5 discs, quelling my worries that the final part will be rushed. Having said that, the last disc of the original is one big dungeon so they could probably end Rebirth earlier to cram more detail into this game.
