St. Lucia - "Falling Asleep" + 5th Album

Indie popper and occasional producer for Haerts and Icona Pop is finally releasing his debut album on October 8th, through Columbia no less.

The first single, Elevate is out now:

I'm super excited, the debut EP was great, and September was one of my favourite songs last year. For some reason, I always thought he sounded a bit like 80's synthpop meets 90's Michael Jackson.

Sorry MiChiMadNesS used the search tool but didn't see this was posted already.

Love the new song! Maybe it's just me, but the melody kinda sounds like Closer Than This in some parts.

You know that great feeling when you discover the song you will be listening on repeat for the next weeks? I'm getting that now.

I assumed he'd be one of those people who I'd never hear from after his EP bar the occasional producer credit, so I'm glad this is happening!

Tracklist and cover:

1. The Night Comes Again
2. The Way You Remember Me
3. Elevate
4. Wait For Love
5. All Eyes On You
6. Closer Than This
7. Call Me Up
8. We Got It Wrong
9. September
10. Too Close
11. When The Night

I'm still hyped for this but I'm a little disappointed to be honest. All Eyes On You is a fantastic track but it along with Closer Than This, We Got It Wrong and September have all been released on previous EPs. I was hoping for an entire album of new material. Out of the eleven tracks it appears that only six will be completely new given we've also heard Elevate which was released as the lead single. I suppose he thought that the previous tracks didn't get enough exposure when they were released on the EPs hence why he decided to include them on the album. That's the only reasonable explanation I can think of that would explain the recycled material.

It would still be great to have a proper album from him though, even if not all the tracks are entirely new. Still excited.

I think that over time it will make more sense to have his best songs on one album. I'd choose Before The Dive over All Eyes though. But hey, itunes playlists!

The album has been done for AGES apparently.

"Before the Dive" is by far the best St. Lucia song; its exclusion from the album is really odd. The new track "Too Close" is everything "September" tried to be.

Early impressions have hit Twitter:

St Lucia's debut album 'When The Night' is fantastic. Shows off some great production too. Out Oct 8th.

The new St. Lucia album, WHEN THE NIGHT (out 10/8) has been the soundtrack to my Tokyo visit. One of the years best, hands down.

Sounds like it's going to be amazing. I seriously cannot wait for this. So excited.

The album has leaked! Oh my God, so excited to hear this. I'll give it a listen and then report back!

I was unable to find it. The person saying it leaked on that site is referring to a VH1.com stream, which isn't a leak, that's deliberate promo.
