STAR WARS

If they reboot Star Wars I will die. Nothing will ever be sacred again.

Just keep on going, Disney. I don't care how many Episodes you make, leave the original trilogy alone.

Oh. Well if they actually do a Han & Chewie prequel (unlikely), I imagine everyone will throw a fit if Nathan Fillion is not cast. Which he won't. Because he is (a) too old, and (b) insanely overrated.

I'm just not here for the moaning that will ensue when the new sequels aren't exact retellings of a series of novels. If they're very clever then they can please everyone.

I'm just worried that they'll completely ignore the novels. That would be a big mistake, there are so many amazing characters in there. So much so that George Lucas actually demanded that Anakin Solo be killed off because he was proving more popular than Anakin Skywalker.

Maybe they could make the sequels so that they are very much stand-alone adventures but fit into the expanded universe continuity as well.

I wouldn't be against them making some lesser changes to things in the interest of good storytelling, as long as they stay true to the characters.

I've never read a whole Star Wars novel. I remember starting Splinter of the Mind's Eye when I was about 8 (which was oriignally supposed to be the sequel to Episode IV I believe) and giving up. Han Solo at Star's End was memorable for the fact that Han owned a droid called 'Bollox'.

Read the X-Wing series (no need to do it in order or anything, either).

The New Jedi Order series had quite a few detractors at the time (it's about an alien invasion from beyond the Star Wars galaxy), but I've liked every book from it I've read. The character of Anakin Solo really comes into his own, and the books (18 of them, I believe) are quite varied in terms of character focus and genre; a few are about covert missions, some other focus on the politics, and a few are very dogfight-focused. Highly recommended!

The character-focused spin-off films have been confirmed, it's everywhere.

Episode VII is still expected in 2015.

MAKE IT STOP.

I want a Qui-Gon Jinn solo film. Someone steals his favourite padawan and he gives a speech about his very particular set of skills; skills he has acquired over a very long career. Skills that make him a nightmare for people like them. If they let his padawan learner go now, that'll be the end of it. He will not look for them, he will not pursue them. But if they don't, he will look for them, he will find them, and he will kill them.

Other possible plotlines:-

- Padme's roommate/handmaiden is killed and replaced by an evil doppelgänger!
- Jar Jar Binks is beaten to death by a giant black cloud!
- Young Han Solo (Bradley Cooper) takes his shirt off in various locations!
