Steps - General Discussion

I can see the whole reason for The Ultimate Collection in proving that they could work together again, as well as making quick buck for minimal work.

Now that they have been successful post reunion, I hope they don't go too stingey and release exactly what we have over and over again in various formats. I can understand they wouldn't want to spend a massive budget on a hits collection but, they need to provide something the fans haven't already got numerous times as ultimately they will make up the bulk of first week sales and potential success.

I appreciate and agree with what people are saying about making it for the fans but greatest hits are generally for the casuals so I think we all need to lower our expectations about getting a lot of new or unreleased material as it won’t be happening.

Obviously, if their management thinks logically, then they should delete any trace of Gold on streaming platforms so that all streaming figures, however minimal, go towards the new greatest hits.

I know there’s a narrative that “greatest hits are over” these days, but I think you only have to look at the longevity of Little Mix’s “Between Us” to see that they can be successful. They need something which is going to have a battle for #1, but then not dropped out of the top 100 three weeks later.

Agreed; but with them expanding it in 2020 to accommodate loads of mixes and extras, I doubt that’ll happen for some reason.

I don't want to be awful but surely there was never any intent to include you all in the final video? We get lost in a maze, find each other, it turns into a UFO, we dance in space and... 23 un-matching children doing whatever the hell they like with no direction appear? It doesn't seem plausible.

I literally just spat out my coffee! Genius summing up. Bravo

I think in the UK all song streams count for all albums no? Like Touch by Little Mix counts for their best of AND the Glory Days album. It's just that Between Us is the one benefitting more.

I won't settle for anything less than 5 versions where they've re-recorded all the hits and fan favourites as solo tracks and a bonus CD with everything remixed by Calvin Harris and a lead single featuring Adele.

What's the point otherwise?!

Non merci.

TOTP 'The Story of 1998'. Claire and Lee talking about the band getting together and about 5678. Everything relating to 1997.
Steps' socials advertising the 98' show with a clip of Better Best Forgotten - from 1999.
Make it make sense.
At least they showed Tragedy on the 1998 biggest hits show. 1 out of 3 isn't too bad.

I by now no longer know who in this thread is and isn't in the know and what are just general thoughts and what's people warning us because they know we'll get 19 hits + a new single and that's that.

Greatest Hits eras are for the GP but they need extra content for the fans who will buy the vinyl / bundles.

Thinking that this project is through Sony, I wonder if they'll go down the Little Mix route of having individual editions with their own favourite album tracks/songs that didn't make the cut added?

I'm still holding out hope for 25th anniversary reissues/vinyls of the albums, but I suppose that's something that could be done over the next few years to keep the brand alive.
