Yeah but that would mean 11 new singles leaving only space for 8 classics. That would mean some proper big hits being cut I could see The Slightest Touch making it cause it’s at least a known song for the casuals and they’re supposedly still doing it this tour
I understand that, which is why I feel To The Beat and A Hundred Years Of Winter may have been omitted for the deluxe. Whichever way the go about it, there will be omitted bangers left off a one CD version, but I'm just thinking sales-wise and particularly for Sharon, who may already have Gold and Ultimate, she's unlikely to part with her tenner for very few 'new' tracks.
At this point, I'm mostly excited to know which "old songs" made the cut and will be available on a proper vinyl collection format
Yeah I’m not quite sure what would sway Sharon. Songs she doesn’t know or more hits? If she still has Gold would she care either way?
More the point why should we care? It's an impossible and thankless task putting a 41 track compilation together. They won't please everyone.
Maybe reworkings of the songs she already knows would make her part with her tenner a bit easier? But we can probably assume that wont be the case.
Yeah I don’t care about Sharon but they‘ve probably thought of her making the decisions. I just hope the 1 disc does a good job of representing ‘the essentials’. And would kinda love if (like with Little Mix) the 2-disc spreads the hits all over 2 discs making it a proper 2nd version instead of ‘disc 1 + lesser hits on disc 2) 41-track is interesting though since they only had 33 singles?
Essentials 5678 Last thing on my mind One for sorrow Tragedy Heartbeat Better best forgotten Loves got a hold Deeper shade Summer of love Stomp Better the devil Its the way you make me feel Chain reaction To the beat of my heart
Yeah that seems like a fair selection. I was toying around with predictions and this is the 11 I was ‘sure’ about plus the 2 ‘Better’s’. Pretty much perfect. Glad they appreciate Last Thing considering how often that gets shoved in medleys
I think it'll be early single heavy because those sold loads and will be best known No one is buying the standard cd for words are not enough and when I said goodbye
Considering they’ve done Better The Devil on every (?) tour and it’s a cover of a wellknown song I think it kinda makes sense to treat it as a classic up there with their biggest hits, even though it was one of the singles I wasn’t sure on making the cut
I was thinking they might go with Here and Now over either Better Best Forgotten or Better The Devil because that's a very heavy run of early singles, but other than that that seems to be a comprehensive list of essentials.
Ah I didn’t know if you were spoilering or predicting. But no obviously not those 2. I could see Say You’ll Be Mine, After The Love Has Gone or Here And Now making it but I’m not fully sure if any of them were bigger than Devil or Better Best Forgotten so I think your list is spot on.
It probably won’t feel as Step One heavy if the tracklist isn’t chronological. But yeah, Better Best Forgotten was one I had doubts on (but I don’t live in the UK so I have no memories of it actually being a sizeable hit.. over here they were pretty much done after Tragedy so to me it mainly feels like ‘the 5th single from an album’)
Living overseas and not really having the feeling of what were their "bigger hits" in the UK (except the obvious ones), I've always wondered if the great reception of Better the devil in their latest tours was because of their particular version released back then, or because the song is just popular amongst gay crowds
Still intrigued by the 41 songs. Could the Tony Moran mix of One For Sorrow actually make it this time?
It does make it more plausible that the Cardiff and Bournemouth shows were cancelled if they had planned to be full on press mode during these dates all along and Cardiff was the 1st and Bournemouth 2nd June
