Steps

Total blue sky thinking but with the domination of Christmas songs charting every year - how do we get Steps a slice of that action?

Does it hurt them that the most popular version of Merry X-Mas Everybody isn't on any of their own albums, only the WIP mix?

I thought it was one of their most-streamed songs?!

It is but is only on compilations - the ones that's on Gold and Last Dance is the WIP Edit

Wondering what kind of streaming numbers they would need to achieve to get a top 100 charting song - Britney's song from Platinum Christmas is at 89 for example

Well the number 100 song has had 780,000 streams this week on Spotify alone!
The only way it would happen is if it started appearing prominently on the curated Christmas playlists.
Really, the chart means so little at Christmas now, because it's based on people saying "Alexa, play Christmas music" and how long it is before they say "Alexa, stop"

My dream would be for the advent calendar would be if someone can unearth Steps on this Sky one game show thing they were on while promoting Last Thing On My Mind. I wish I could remember what it was called. Pretty certain they performed the song too. It was my earliest steps memory, that got me intrigued by them. It was then the GMTV performance and interview of One For Sorrow that made me a fan

It's not this is it? It's a Channel 5 show though

Sadly no, though I don’t think I’ve seen that before so that’s welcome. (Faye’s hair gives the game away this was filmed probably October-December 1998) It literally aired in the promotion cycle of Last Thing, so April/May 1998 and it was repeated a lot that year

I've looked into what I have only thing I could find was they was credited for a gameshow called Prickly Heat episode October 18, 1998 although that doesn't look like the show for the target audience.

There was also a GameShow called well Games World (people playing video games) that also fits the timeframe that also musical guests but can only see omnibus episodes on YouTube without the musical guests

They also appeared on Chuckle Brothers To Me... to You gameshow (April 15th) but that was on the BBC don't think we have that footage yet

They also appeared on a show No Balls Aloud however that was September time so might well be in the One For Sorrow campaign
