Wtf is Living+?
Isn’t it just an assisted living facility where random actors turn up to say hello? Bizarre concept.

Yeah Ken and Roman are both screwed, this is not going to end well. The Old Guard (Gerri and Carl) are more muted and conservative in their thinking, so they don’t respect them, but you know they’ll get the knife out when they need to and will do whatever is needed to come out on top.

Yeah Roman and Kendall being in their flop era is perfect timing for Shiv to be the final winner.

That ep wasn’t quite as good as the previous ones for me, still good and very watchable, but the dialogue wasn’t as sharp as usual I don’t think.

Also I hate to speak ill of the best show on television but is the back and forth about this bloody Mattson deal getting a bit samey? One episode it’s on and then the next it’s off and then it’s back on again. Just feels a bit like we’ve gone around in a circle one too many times.

Yeah I found last night's episode the weakest since the opener, which to be fair aptly performed the task of setting things up for the season.

Having two dragged out 'will they, won't they' storylines on the go at the same time (the deal and Shiv/Tom) just fuels impatience in me as a viewer. I enjoyed seeing the dynamics start shifting with the Leadership team and the Roys, but we already know Mattson is an erratic edge lord. Close the deal and show us how the siblings manage things and interact going forward.

Also I'm surprised to say I missed Connor this ep?

As a follow up thought, I can completely see why Roman is in lead character categories this time around. This really is his season.

Shiv and Kendall are always great, well rounded characters fantastically acted, but it’s good to see more facets of Roman and Kieran deserves major props. Not that I’m entirely sure he’ll see off Jeremy, but putting him supporting this time would’ve done a disservice to the character and the performance.

Speaking of the supporting category, I enjoyed Tom being open and honest this episode. I hope/think we’ll get some great moments out of him when he learns of the pregnancy to seal that race for Matthew.

I heard that it wasn't written by Jesse Armstrong and it shows.

The board will find out that Roman and Kendall are trying to sabotage the deal and are fudging the numbers and they will be ousted but I can't wait for Shiv to take the reins and destroy Jeryd Mencken.

The scene near the beginning when Kendall sits in Shiv's spot so she walks over and loudly grabs her phone sksksks

I'm glad others agree that this episode was so-so. The Shiv/Tom stuff is annoying now and I also found myself waiting for Connor and Willa to show up - if they can continue making up unnecessary dialogue for Greg, then surely they don't need to be writing out Connor and Willa.

Parts of it were really unsettling though, the Gerri/Roman scene was so uncomfortable. But yeah I was a bit bored in the middle of the episode.

Jesse’s never written every episode, he’s very open about his writers room and how collaborative it’s been through the years.

If this episode felt odd, I do think you all are right in that it’s because it repeated many of the same moves as last week, but where I disagree is that this one felt much more coherent to me. I thought the difference in direction was palpable and the actors responded, and by the end it really coalesced in these beautiful scenes of the siblings dealing with their grief in different ways (Kendall soaking in his victory, back in the water; Roman using his dad’s voice to feel something; Shiv finding solace in Tom).

Also, where last week the Tom and Shiv scenes felt like dark world version of Lucy and Desi, this week they had what was probably the most honest conversation about money that’s ever been on the show. It felt like a breakthrough. Whether it lasts through the end or even another week, who knows, but I hope so.

Connor & Willa’s story is wrapped up now, we know what their future is & their arc has come to a conclusion. I’ve loved their side story throughout the show but they’re low stakes compared to the other storylines, I wouldn’t expect to see much more of either of them really.

I also think that Greg’s story is coming to an abrupt end soon. I’ve always found him insufferable but it’s certainly been ramped up a notch this season, the writers are smarter than just having his character flounder for the rest of the season, I’m sure his downfall is imminent.

I wonder if Greg pissed someone off behind the scenes (or they became aware of the allegations) because he’s been given fuck all to do this season. I’m not complaining.

I don’t think there’s much more they could do with Greg? He worked at the start as the bumbling but basically well intentioned character who had some slight air of morality about him, who sort of judged but also admired the antics of his family. Basically representing the viewer.

But once he sold his soul and hopped on board the greed train (which was a fair progression for the character), he was always just going to be a side character. He’s been way too oblivious and inept for us as viewers to suddenly take seriously if they’d tried to establish him as a player. And he has things too handy for us to buy that he’d switch allegiances and double cross his cousins. So far anyway.

So Tom-lite without the depth of story and character he is.

I almost wish I hadn’t noticed how irrelevant/how much of a device for spontaneous ‘humour’ the character is nowadays, because he irks me when he has any lines at all at this point. Like he wasn’t used badly at all this episode but I still rolled my eyes when he had any dialogue.

That seems to be one reddit sub (i had to google it) and little else. Serious if correct but basically not a lot to go on and far too many people commenting who just seem to have issues with sex in the first place - and views about people who have multiple partners which isn’t much better than shaming. But the character of Greg does seem to have taken a backseat now, where once he seemed more central to events. Basically he’s as bad as them now so isn’t really an everyman character he was at the start.

He/him
I actually thought, way back in season 1, that Greg was being introduced as the dark horse successor. And that he'd ultimately worm his way in with Logan and come out on top, while the kids all destroyed each other. How wrong I was. He's utterly fucking pointless now.

I guess the final nail for Greg was “What am I gonna do with a soul anyways? Souls are boring. Boo souls.” That was like his final walk across the bridge - that and suing Greenpeace. He’s definitely as bad as any of them. But yeah, robot impressions and not a lot else this season.
