Sugababes - "Weeds” + 9th Album

There needs to be more of this positivity.

Yeah the Radio 2 thing is disappointing but it's not the end of the world. Maybe they'll still pick it up, maybe they won't, but realistically this was never going to be a hit regardless and that's ok. I feel like Padam has set unrealistic expectations for artists of their era (amongst fans at least).

Would BBC R2 add much in way of streaming numbers / more success for the song?

I guess it’s good if it does as it adds more awareness of the song and Sugababes in general

However Jungle is (I understand) getting more streams than When The Rain Comes and WTRC was play listed.

As annoying as it is, the song going viral is exactly what they need for it to be a hit. I mean, that’s how “Padam Padam” made it.
I love the sugababes and I only found out about JUNGLE yesterday by going on their Spotify.....I would love them to have a 2025 viral moment, but definitely some PR/promo wouldn't go a miss for the casual listener to get on board too.....I do hope this song grows they deserve a hit

I’ve looked at all of the individual show playlists on Radio 2 and Jungle has been played a total of six times since it was released on the 13th. They’ve also played Overload, Freak and Sara Cox talked about the upcoming tour. That’s pretty good support I’d say?

I have not heard Jungle on Aussie radio, but our stations here suck 24/7.

I would love a Sugababes documentary—similar to what Steps did—where they discuss their legacy, their bond as sisters, and the behind-the-scenes process of creating their album, rebuilding their brand, and reclaiming their name. I’d prefer less focus on the lineup changes and more on their journey. I’m sure this would be fantastic promotion for the album!

Please can we talk about something else.. Every other post is about Jungle being playlisted on Radio 2 or not, it's on every page ever since the song has been released.

I'm looking forward to the tour and really hope they'll perform Run For Cover as it's been absent from their set for quite a while now.

That would be as conversation for the tour thread.

Wanting them to succeed and checking the metrics we have for that is fairly usual.

Girlies it’s 2025. It would be a nice gesture sure but Radio 2 playlists probably mean less than iTunes Charts. They’re never going to have a charting single, and that’s okay!

Their streams are, comparatively, pretty good (compared to their playlisted songs Today and When The Rain Comes!) but it’s all irrelevant because they’re never going to chart.

Aspirations for the album is a whole other ballgame, and I just hope they can produce a decent number of variants as an independent act.

Aww these girls deserve this to be such a big success for them.

I also really wanna see Shiv tied to a hit outside of overload… but I get it. The music industry needs s a different landscape nowadays.

On a separate note, I do get nostalgia for the 2000’s before streaming ruined everything

A number 1 solid selling album tied to the Original Babes would be pop justice.

I'm not as up on the labels as a lot of yous on here -

It's Fascination that have been in charge of Steps since 2017 right? Is that BMG that have released the albums?

Shame that something more didn't work out there with our girls, they seem to run a decent ship? I'd just be buying the one physical copy plus whatever digital bundle with loads of alternate versions/mixes might get dropped midweek for £4.99, but I know a lot of people on this website would shell out for a Mutya/Keisha/Siobhan cassette.
