Sugababes

Sugababies on the run y'all!!!

Like someone said above Crown hasn't opposed the Sacred Three LLP UK trademark application from October 2019. This is great!

The Crown renewal application on EUIPO isn't for everything they previously owned if you look carefully. It's for specific clauses of the trademark. Therefore they are likely to be protecting their assets and future royalties from a huge back catalogue of music and products associated with the name "Sugababes". I think it was always unlikely Keisha was going to get all the rights to the name as a single person unless she was as rich as Michael Jackson to buy you know the Beatles and all of Sony once upon a time! So years of courts and legal issues likely led to a deal where they can use the name based on the inactivity of 4.0 and Crown not using the trademark for over 5 years hence the initial revocation proceedings from 2017 which is still with the UK high court.

Mutya said on Sisco's IG Live there is still a lot of legal issues with the trademark and name they can't talk about but they have been using it and they can continue to so that's good enough for me. I have no concerns that Crown are still jeopardising the girls future I think they are finalising which songwriters, producers, singers etc get the royalties from the back catalogue and future earnings which I imagine would include Heidi and Amelle as they co wrote a lot of material that is still selling.

Re the reunion plans offcourse they have been vague but Mutya mentioned recorded material for the One Touch Anniversary which sounds like music and separate to new music to me. I think the Kabba, MNEK, Loxe, Caplen, Sinead stuff is all brand new music seperate to One Touch Anniversary material and plans.

Also Mutya made it seem like Flatline will be (or might have already been) re recorded as Sugababes. I wonder if the upcoming sessions with Dev Hynes were to re record it and do some more new music aswell. I'm not sure whose decision it was to delete Flatline if it was a Sugababes and Whitney or Polydor thing but I honestly don't think it's a bad thing as long as it's back and better than ever. As much as the music video grew on me and we worked hard for the #flatline1million campaign just before it got deleted it was achieved and I'm proud of us for that.

In terms of a fresh start and new attack on the music scene I can deal with MKS era being deleted and look to the future!

Thank you for this summary! It's cleared a lot of things up for me!

I should've purchased the Flatline video while it was up, though...

You are actually right, they have reduced their number of Classes a lot.

I had a conversation with Siobhan a few weeks ago, which I didn't post about as it felt a bit weird writing about a private chat. There wasn't a lot of things that we didn't already know (as it was mostly just a lovely convo with a super talented laid back, kind, warm lady -like a big sis). But thinking back I think it's ok to mention a bit if its any reassurance to us all now.

It sucked (my word not hers) that it wasn't possible to be in the studio at this time, they were planning to do some live shows end of summer/ autumn but of course that was unlikely now; it wasn't ideal that she missed out on the interviews/Facebook stuff earlier in the year but she was sick so there was really nothing that could be done about that. A really lovely thing to hear was that she hopes they can still release at least some of the leaked album tracks as they were some of her best work. ...I confessed that I had some of them and listen to them all the time cause they are amazing but also that it was really just fans that had heard them and we would be thrilled to pay for them officially if they get released.

What I'm getting at is she was raring to get on with it and nothing was ultimately going to stop her from working. So despite this Covid setback and this trademark uncertainty I really believe that they will fight on and carry on when they are physically able to get back outside together. That was enough for me to carry on with my life (in isolation) and be happy that they will bless this underserving world with their godly music. ...soon

Thank you so much! I'm so jelly she actually spoke to you I always get ignored haha! I never had any doubt that she wasn't well although did suspect Baby No 2 tbh! Summer and Autumn shows would have been perfect but I wonder when they were going to make some actual announcements?

Any leaked tracks getting an official release is a huge blessing! That would be fantastic. As a fan I'm always here but sometimes everything being top secret is annoying. I get the whole leaked songs thing but to have some announced plans and dates officially by now would have been amazing. Even if reschedule due to current situation. Here's hoping for a fantastic year next year for Sugababes!

That collection of songs are just too amazing to be thrown away. It would be an absolute crime if they weren’t released properly. Can you imagine having the finished versions in high quality. I honestly pray for the day we get some of them officially.

I also get ignored all the time not just by Siobhan though.. I miss the old days of MySpace and the conversations I had.

Regarding the current situation, I have no problem to see and hear them next year, a fresh new start even though it means the wait we‘ll be longer it won‘t harm anyone nor destroy anything it will give them more space and they can perfectly prepare themselves for what‘s ahead in 2021.

I can't believe it's been what, three and half years since the first round of leaks? There's a timeless quality to these tracks that makes them still sound fresh as fuck today. Even the ones where the production is bare-bones or rough-sounding, the melodies, vocal talent, and songwriting shine through.

I said it bevor and I´ll say it again: Beat is Gone, I Lay Down, Back In The Day, No Regrets, I'm Alright, Love Me Hard, Only You and Metal Heart NEED to be part of their official discographie.

I’d prefer 100% fresh material.
The material would still be 100% fresh if someone wouldn't had leaked the demos and if we wouldn't have decided it to listen to them. It would be a shame if all of these tracks would go to waste just because a handful of gays have heard them...

I would be happy for these on an EP, or as a bonus on their next greatest hits/ or deluxe album.

The songs leaked, and there isn’t much we can do. In a way it worked in their favor because it got a lot of people talking, people held on longer, and they were able to show that they still have the magic touch (arguably the line up that have the vocal and writing “it factor”).

Today, I'm Alright, No Regrets, Summer of 99 and Open Book as deluxe edition tracks on an eventual album would be most welcome. But I don't know if I'd necessarily want them to be key songs on the album after so long. Then again, I do trust their artistic judgements. So eh, whatever.
